Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Hits Another Major Market

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has finally landed in India, one of the largest smartphone markets in the world, several weeks after the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update starting rolling out to other regions around the world.

Samsung started rolling out the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update back in early November. The update, which brings Galaxy Gear support and Galaxy S4 camera features, landed for U.S. carriers in the days after, finishing up with several carriers including Verizon during the month of December.

The Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update is winding down though, as we have pointed out, there are still some Galaxy S3 variants out there that still haven’t received their Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates.

Samsung has crossed another region off the list today as the company has reportedly pushed out the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to users in India, one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. The update, as expected, delivers many of the features that we’ve seen from the other Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 updates. It includes Galaxy Gear support, Samsung KNOX, and UI changes that arrived with the Galaxy S4.

The update should roll out to owners over the next couple of days and those who are interested in upgrading should check inside of their settings for the update. If available, it will download and then install.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 can run S Voice from the Galaxy S4 with S Voice Drive.

There are still a few Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 updates remaining. French carrier SFR still owes its Galaxy S3 LTE owners an Android 4.3 update and Australian carrier Telstra has yet to confirm an Android 4.3 update for its version of the Galaxy S3. It’s still not clear if the company will be rolling out an update.

Rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will get Android 4.4 KitKat at some point down the road with whispers pointing to a release in April. Samsung itself hasn’t confirmed anything so it’s still not set in stone. French carrier SFR did, however, confirm Android 4.4 KitKat updates for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3.

4.3 jelly bean which is available in I india, there’s no knox included and many features which was pre told by Samsung. They’re doing partiality between between diff variants of s3. And there’s hell lot of battery drain!

The update rolled out in india is only a test version and is only available to specific s3s with specific baseband version. If all goes well with the test version, samsung will then release a final build for all users in india.

Get ready I don’t care what version where or how or when, I’m having to send my wonderful S3 which I loved back to t mobile for warranty exchange like so many people before me so much so, it’s on backorder!! This update turned into a nightmare, even a factory reset you can do at home will not do any good, so my friend join us and exchange it and be happy with no issues at all on your new phone.

If you have not updated since this morning(1/9/14), don’t. I clicked ok to the software update alert. Now in my GMAIL, when a conversation/thread has 3 and more mails i.e on the initial mail from somebody(1) when you reply(2), and when you get response (3), you can’t see anything beyond 2. In the inbox view you see the one liner text for 3rd mail on a thread. But when you click that mail and get to the contents, it shows only upto 2. Even if you want to forward to your other email, since you see only until 2nd mail on the thread, that is what you can forward. DON’T UPDATE. WAIT UNTIL A PATCH GETS RELEASED FOR THIS. I have not tried how this goes with other mail

How does it make out that the phone is from India. Actually, I bought the phone in India (got OTAs with Indian SIM on), from its build number it looks like it made in Korea and now I have travelled to the UK (has a UK Lebara SIM). Still hanging around with 4.1.2. Does this mean that I would never get this update? I have tried explicitly requesting for an update, but in vain
