Galaxy S3 & Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Updates Take Great Strides

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates continue to make progress though both roll outs remain incomplete months after they first started rolling out and weeks after Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates were confirmed by Samsung.

Back in October, Samsung started rolling out the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. In November, it was joined by the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates, both of which mimicked the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update and delivered Galaxy Gear compatibility, Samsung Knox and a number of other upgrades that were aimed at improving the overall experience on both devices.

Many users expected Samsung to take awhile to roll out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update though many owners probably did not have a five month roll out plan in mind when the update first touched down. That’s exactly what has happened though it appears that both updates are finally starting to wind down.

Several missing Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates are on the verge of rolling out. Australian carrier Optus, a carrier that still has missing Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 updates, confirmed new details today and says that a trio of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean releases are on the way.

The carrier says that it has approved three updates, two Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates and one Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and all three should be out by the time April ends.

Optus claims that the two missing Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates will deploy in mid-to-late April. It also says that the long awaited Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will emerge in early April. Optus’ details mean that there should only be a few Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates that haven’t rolled out to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 owners. Its updates were among the most glaring.

Fellow Australian carrier Telstra still hasn’t pushed out its Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and still clings to an April 21st release date. The carrier also has yet to redeploy the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update that was halted by Samsung two weeks ago.

These updates come months after Samsung started rolling out the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update. Galaxy S4 devices around the world, including here in the United States, have received the brand new update. In fact, the only major carrier in the United States that has yet to roll out the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update is Verizon.

The Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is confirmed for the U.S. and elsewhere though information remains scarce. Only Sprint has confirmed the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update in the U.S. and international carriers remain silent about their plans for its release.

Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 users who still are on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean should expect a fairly lengthy wait for Android 4.4. In fact, Optus was forced to alter its Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat release time frame. Instead of April, the carrier now says that it currently has no ETA for its Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update.
