Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Release Almost Complete in U.S.

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update release has come to a close in the United States, at least amongst major carriers, as the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is now available in Samsung Kies or by way of an Over-the-Air update that T-Mobile says will be pushing out until February of next year.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update land for several carriers in the United States. First, it landed for Sprint and Verizon, something that happened all the way back in late October. Next, it was AT&T and U.S. Cellular though those updates ran into trouble and the carriers pulled the updates at the behest of Samsung.

It looks like that trouble either doesn’t affect T-Mobile or Samsung got the issues ironed out because today, the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 becomes the latest and last major Galaxy S4 to receive Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in the United States.

T-Mobile announced the roll out on the device’s support page, saying that the massive software upgrade is available in one of two ways. The first, inside of Samsung Kies, the software that allows users to hook the device up to a computer and manually update the software. It’s not always easy but it’s certainly the most convenient way of pulling down the upgrade.

The other is via the Over-the-Air process which allows users to head into the device’s settings to manually check for the software. T-Mobile says that the OTA process will last from today until February so at this point, Samsung Kies is by far the best option for those looking to snag the software as soon as humanly possible.

T-Mobile says that Samsung KNOX and Galaxy Gear support are both on board but it does not go beyond that. We expect there to be more fixes and enhancements beyond those so T-Mobile Galaxy S4 owners will want to be on the lookout after the software is downloaded and installed.

While this is the last major Galaxy S4 to get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in the U.S., it probably won’t be the last Galaxy S4 to get the Android 4.3 update. Other, smaller carriers will likely get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and its features in the future though we still don’t have any kind of a time frame for those that bought the device on a carrier other than the big five.

The AT&T and U.S. Cellular Galaxy S4 roll outs should be close, now that this update has been approved, but neither carrier has relayed any dates.
