New Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop Release Confirmed

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop release has been confirmed for another Canadian carrier and if its website is any indication, this new Galaxy S5 Lollipop update should start hitting devices in the near future.

In December, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update started rolling out for the first time bringing new features, enhancements and fixes to Samsung’s former flagship. Slowly but surely, Samsung and its carrier partners have been rolling out Galaxy S5 Lollipop updates though the Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 release is still quite limited.

In North America, its rolled out to a trio of U.S. carriers including Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile. AT&T says that it’s working on an upgrade but it hasn’t outlined a specific Galaxy S5 Lollipop release date. Canada will also get the Galaxy S5 Lollipop upgrade and we’re now up to two confirmed Canada-bound Galaxy S5 Lollipop updates.

Weeks ago, Canadian carrier Rogers confirmed a Galaxy S5 Lollipop release for February or March. With February now over and done with, the carrier is now committing to a release sometime this month. It appears that it will be joined by Bell, another Canadian carrier that’s now confirmed a Galaxy S5 Lollipop release of its own.

Bell’s website says that the current OS version for its Galaxy S5 is Android 5.0 Lollipop and it has confirmed the roll out through its Twitter account though it’s not clear if the update is rolling out just yet. SamMobile’s firmware page, which is generally accurate, does not list a roll out. Often times, announcements come shortly before the start of the OTA so we should see some movement from the carrier in the near future.

The update will bring Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop features along with it and Bell says that it will also deliver various improvements to its version of the Galaxy S5. It does not say what those improvements are. We expect all Canadian Galaxy S5 Lollipop updates to mirror Bell’s version of the update. Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update’s have focused on Google’s features and the changes to TouchWiz but they’ve also come with changes unique to the carrier.

Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Lollipop update has made a great deal of progress in the weeks since its initial release though there is still a long way to go before it’s complete. The upgrade has landed for several international models though it remains missing on many others. Most carriers remain silent, even the ones that typically aren’t silent, and we’re still not sure when or if we’ll see the update roll out in full force.

The company has also confirmed a Galaxy S5 LTE-A Android 5.0 Lollipop release and Rogers has also confirmed an arrival for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. It’s not clear when those updates will start rolling out though Samsung, at the time, said that it was committed to pushing out the Galaxy S5 LTE-A Android 5.0 Lollipop update in “early 2015.”

Samsung France has also confirmed a Q2 Lollipop release for the Galaxy S5 mini though a specific release date for the smaller Galaxy S5 variant remains out of reach.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop release isn’t the only software moving out. Samsung’s also begun pushing out Android 5.0 Lollipop updates to the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Note Edge. The four updates are in various stages of release and all four are expected to hit U.S. and international carriers at some point in the future.

None of these roll outs are expected to finish up any time soon and we should see Samsung continue to roll them out as get deeper into the year.

Watch out before you update your Samsung S5 because the update will eat up your battery life and all of your apps will load slower and u lull probably have problems with your wifi connection. I’m sorry I ever did this so called upgrade. If you ask me, it’s a downgrade.
