Galaxy S6 Nougat Update: 5 Reasons to Get Excited & 2 Not To

Secure Folder

Secure Folder

One of the best Samsung Galaxy Note 7 features might become available for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge after their Nougat updates are released.

Secure Folder was one of our favorite Galaxy Note 7 features and it's now available for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, provided the devices are running Android 7.0 Nougat.

Samsung hasn't confirmed it for any other devices though it says it "plans to extend support to additional devices soon." We expect the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 to get this feature once Android Nougat arrives.

Secure Folder is a protected folder and an excellent way to keep the most important files stored on your device secure. Bank account information, things of that nature.

You can change the folder's name and icon and you must use an authentication method (PIN, pattern, passcode or biometric verification) to access and manage your Secure Folder.

If you store sensitive data on your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6, the sound of Secure Folder is probably music to your ears.

This is our mistake that we bought S6 an expensive mobile quite 2 years back and still the GALQAXYYYYYYY is thinking update 7 for it. It is a strange policy, and readily make me move to Windows Phones as they have a very good policy in respect of update as you can see that a very cheap windows phone i. e. Lumia 430 can be updated to Windows Phone. I recommend everyone should try moving to Windows Phone as they have already developed very good applications and also most of them are Freeeeeee.

If that so , Samsung will not let the S6 move forward , I guess I’m gonna have to move on to Apple again or another brand . It was enough S6 has no sd card slot .

I kept putting it off with my Samsung Galaxy S6. Finally let it happen yesterday. All I can say is I am absolutely HATING it. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING looks different and I’ve been trying to figure it out for hours. Very very disappointed. I wish there was a way to switch back. I cannot find many of my old features. Biggest peeve is that I no longer have the “ultra power saver” feature which I relied on quite a bit as my charging port is testy so I use a wireless charger. Since I am on the road a lot it is difficult to use that charger in my car. Even my icons look strange and I cannot find any option to revert back or change the layout. Big thumbs down!!!

Could not agree more. This reminds me of the GUI “update” from Windows 7 to 8.1

When you swipe the main screen down, the icons (Bluetooth, wireless, etc) are terrible. The subtle difference between “off” and “on” (or whatever) is very difficult to discern. The don’t change except to go from gray to a very slightly different shade of blue.

Icons have borders by default now. You can switch back to how they looked before in screen settings.

Agree. I don’t like the look of some of the app icons – I would also like to switch back. The other major complaint is the new look In the notifications drop down – they’re too small and hard to read/recognize without my glasses.

I have received the update and it has been a nightmare ever since. My battery is draining at a crazy rate, won’t stay on with a full charge for more than 6 hours, with no use. I’ve never downloaded or run a bunch of apps so I know its not that. Ever since the upgrade when the phone locks I get adds for apps now right above where you have to swipe to unlock and its making me nuts. Everytime I send a text now it says sending but sometimes it never delivers the text, I never have had that before, so I have to keep double checking if people got them. The interfaces and the way things work have changed too in many places and IMHO not for the better. When I go to recent calls and I click on the person’s name it has a pop-up below that gives you the option to call, message or details, I keep accidentally calling everyone when I don’t mean too. While checking settings/system updates it says I’m current, I get a banner across my phone that constantly says android is upgrading with a thermometer but it has never made it past a little more than the half way mark. I have not had time to do it yet but will try to visit the Samsung folks in Best Buy tomorrow and pray they can make it stop….From all things I’m seeing Samsung did not get the kinks worked out yet…

Be careful what you wish for… I would rather have a bar of Nougat than this new version of Android! Phone hangs when accessing apps. Battery usage is crazy – I have to keep a powerbank handy otherwise phone runs out of power before I get home from work – charging up 2 to 3 times a day now.
