Galaxy S8+ vs Galaxy S7 Edge: Worth the Upgrade?

Samsung Bixby AI

One thing Galaxy S7 Edge owners likely will never get is Samsung's new virtual assistant. It looks to take on Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and of course Siri. There's even a dedicated button for it on the left side under the volume rocker that launches Bixby.

Bixby can do a lot just by you asking questions with your voice. He's always listening if you'd like, and has some neat features. Additionally, it can launch the camera and scan items, images, landmarks or even text. Get information, find directions or translate languages. It's a magic camera. That's just a few of many many things we're expecting from Bixby. It is only available on the Galaxy S8.

Additionally, Samsung added 3rd party support so app developers can tap into Bixby to make it even better. It isn't just a software AI experience either, it has computing power and machine learning to get smarter as you go. The verdict is still out, but we expect big things from Samsung's new Assistant. Whether they'll be enough to make it viable over Google Assistant though, is something we'll reserve judgement on until we review the phone.
