Google Earth Updated for Android 3.0 Honeycomb Support

Published

on

Google has updated its Google Earth app for use on Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets that will make use of the tablet’s larger displays. The new update leverages Honeycomb’s new user experience with a tool bar up top, but the fun begins when users browse 3D landmarks and content. If you’re looking at the Colosseum, for example, in Rome, Italy in Google Earth in 3D, you can now see the landmark and its surroundings along with a popup with user photos on the right hand side to give you greater details of what others have seen in real life. Google Earth now allows for layers, such as those from Google Places, Panoramio photos, Wikipedia, and 3D buildings. For a more realistic 3D experience, Google Earth’s 3D buildings and landmarks now come with textures.

The app itself requires Android 2.1 on a smartphone and the tablet edition will require a minimum of Android 3.0. It is available as a free download through Android Market.

I have an Acer Iconia A100 and Google Earth does install from the Android Market or from web. However, I do not have a menu page. There is a taskbar at the top, but when I put in a city it does nothing. No menu??

It is like something is missing??
