Google Maps Will Soon Include Street View for Businesses

Published

Google Maps is about to get a lot more interesting as Google has unveiled a program called Business Photos from Google which will allow businesses to show off 360-degree street view and interior imagery of their business on the company’s Places page. Google is currently taking applications from businesses in 37 select cities around the globe.

How does it work?

It’s fairly straightforward.

If you live in one of the cities that is currently under the program’s umbrella, you apply and if selected, Google will send photographers out to take photos of the interior of the business, a process that takes about an hour.

Once completed, the Places page will look something like this.

Google touts the benefits of the program saying that these “interior photographs and panoramic imagery are a great way to show potential customers what your business is really like. By enhancing your Place page, business photos will help showcase your business to potential customers.”

Let’s face it.

Most of us have shown up at a place of business only to find that it wasn’t what we expected so this is definitely helpful for consumers too. This is definitely a neat addition to both Google Maps and Places and if everything goes smoothly in the launch cities, we expect this to start popping up in other markets around the globe.
