Google Nexus Q Pre-Orders Start Shipping

Google has begun to ship the Nexus Q to those who pre-ordered the original incarnation of the device.

Android Police has confirmed the news with Google who says that it has indeed begun shipping out the device to those who placed a pre-order.

The news comes just a day after Google said that it was delaying the consumer release of the Nexus Q in an effort to make the product better. The device had received poor reviews from the tech community though it’s unclear if those poor reviews directly impacted Google’s decision.

For its part, Google says that it has delayed the device to make it even better. Just how the company plans on improving the device remains a mystery.

While announcing the delay, Google also revealed that it was extended its “preview” of the Nexus Q to those who pre-ordered meaning those who placed an order ahead of its consumer release will get the device for free. The $299 that consumers paid for the Nexus Q will not be charged to the credit card used to buy the device.

Google said that the device would be on its way to pre-orderers soon and it appears that it kept its promise.

The Nexus Q, which went up for sale in late July, quickly sold out. In fact, the device sold out within 24 hours.

The device, in its current form, is a social streaming media player that connects to a TV and/or a pair of speakers and streams media from Google’s Play services.

Users control the device with Android phones and tablets. Multiple users can queue up music and movies at the same time, as long as they’re all connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

It’s unclear if those features will remain an integral part of the Nexus Q experience when the device emerges.

What kind of coolest-in-the-world company is Google? Competition makes the world go round, right? In their quest to topple Apple and become the de facto tech/comm global go-to, we as lowly consumers WIN…free for those who “pre-ordered”…I need to pre-order more often!!
