Accessory maker Griffin has some great news for owners of Microsoft’s recently released Surface Pro 4. The company, which is known for its extensive roster of premiere iPhone and iPad cases, has a new case for the Windows 2-in-1 from Microsoft. The Griffin Survivor Slim for Surface Pro 4 will offer the best in drop production.

Griffin announced the Survivor Slim for Surface Pro 4 case during CES 2016. The Consumer Electronics Show is the world’s premiere technology event. Tons of exhibitors flock to Las Vegas to show off their products every year.

The Survivor Slim for Surface Pro 4 will cost $89.99 when it becomes available on Griffin’s only store something during the month. The Survivor Slim isn’t really a single case, but a system with a few different parts all designed to stop the Surface Pro 4’s 12.3-inch touchscreen and internals from breaking – even if it’s dropped from a height of six feet.

The first part of the Survivor Slim for Surface Pro 4 is a screen protector that protects the display from nicks and scratches. The second part of the system is a black polycarbonate shell that takes the brunt of any impact. The inner part of this shell is made of silicon, which Griffin says helps the shell absorb drops, protecting the valuable device inside. Getting the Griffin Survivor Slim for Surface Pro 4 case only requires that users place the screen protector on their device then slide their device through the opening along the back area. Smartly, Griffin has integrated a flap that lets users extend the adjustable kickstand that’s essential to the device’s mission as notebook and tablet replacement. Griffin doesn’t ruin the pen storage that Microsoft integrated into the Surface Pro 4. There are magnets in the case that keep the expensive Surface Pen in place.

All of this protection does come at a cost. The Griffin Survivor Slim Case for Surface Pro 4 adds a little more than 10 ounces to the Surface Pro 4’s weight. The Surface Pro 4 with Intel Core M3 processor already weighs 1.69 pounds. It’s the lightest Surface Pro 4 Microsoft offers.

Griffin is letting potential buyers sign up to get an email notification when sales of the Survivor Slim for Surface Pro 4 officially begin online.
