GTA 5 Phones Mock iPhone, Android & Windows Phone Users

Published

GTA 5 takes jabs at the world we live in throughout the game, and when it comes to the phones used by characters in the game, there is no respite as iPhone, Android and Windows Phone users are at the brunt of the joke.

Considering GTA 5 sold over $1 billion worth of copies so far, and GTA 5 on PS4 and Xbox One isn’t likely coming until 2014 according to the latest gossip, gamers are taking the mocking in stride.

GTA 5 lets gamers play as three main characters, Michael, the rich ex con, Franklin, the gang member who wants more and Trevor, a certifiably insane meth and weapons distributor.

Each character has a unique personality, form clothes, cursing and family drama all the way down to the phone they carry to stay in touch with the rest of the GTA 5 universe.

While the phones in video games are often decoration only, users can call other characters, summon a blimp, call 911, take self portraits, email, trade stocks and much more on the phones. There’s even a Facebook phone, but without ruining any game plot, it isn’t going anywhere fast. In short, the phones in GTA 5 are a key tool to getting around in a life of crime and destruction.

In the game Michael is an ex-con with enough cash to retire early and drink by the pool, before finding himself tossed back into the game. Michael relies on an iFruit, which is the GTA 5 version of an iPhone.

Note the traditional iPhone dock and status bar, which Apple just changed in iOS 7, but are still familiar enough to see. Unlike the iPhone, the first time we took a selfie with the GTA iPhone the Xbox froze.

When it comes to Android owners, Franklin looks like he is rocking a Samsung Galaxy S3 knockoff as he hustles to move up in the world of crime.

It’s not clear what Rockstar has against Windows Phone users, but based on the way these stereotypes play out Windows Phone users are the crazy ones in Los Santos.

“There’s no word on w Windows Phone iFruit app.”

Thats poor research Josh, R* clearly states on their website that: “Coming soon for Android devices via Google Play as well as for Windows Phone…”

Or are you one of those biased people that are rooting against Windows Phone, so you make it appear as if its not getting the App, even though thats clearly incorrect?

Good catch. Windows Phone is still a distant third if you look at the page. you see Available on the App Store, Coming soon for Android. As someone who went through “Coming soon” with Android for years, I’ll believe Windows Phone iFruit when it actually arrives.

Is it just me or does Franklin”s Android looks like a blackberry icon wise?

Yeah it totally looks more to a blackberry. I can’t understand why people see that as an android. Just looking at the notifications you’ll know that it’s a blackberry.

I know this is really late, but Josh, you are clearly against Windows Phone. We got the iFruit app for WP at the same time as Android users nearly.
