Hands On With Samsung N310 Netbook, Pictures

My customers love me.

Prior to making a decision on what Tablet PC or netbook to purchase, my clients normally have hands-on access to just about anything they want to trial. If I don’t have it on hand, then I’ve likely had it before and shown it to them, or can usually get something within a couple of days notice. That was not the case with the Samsung N310, which is what my customer finally decided on and I didn’t have.

Read on for initial impressions and high res pictures.

I have a customer who was wanting to purchase a netbook business travel purposes and I gave them a hands on with everything I had / recommended: HP Mini 1000, Lenovo S10-2, Lenovo S12, and the Samsung NC10. She has a Dell Latitude notebook and thus asked about my impression of the Dell netbooks. I advised against them due to the quirky touchpad. She liked the Lenovo S10-2 and Samsung NC10’s long battery life, as well as their keyboard. However, the customer was leaning to the Samsung NC10 because she felt the keyboard was more comfortable,   and preferred a non-glossy screen – until she saw the Samsung N310 online. Unfortunately, I didn’t have one of those, so she had to make a decision without getting her hands on one. She had tried out my chiclet style keyboard on my MacBook Pro and knew she’d be comfortable with it. She also liked the rounded look of the N310, plus the more modern curved edges. She didn’t care for the gloss screen, but some of the other features outweighed that negative. So, she ordered the N310 and it came in yesterday. I’ve only got one day to get it set up and handed off to her. Naturally, I’ve taken the opportunity to grab a few pictures while I’ve got my hands on it.

I have really enjoyed the short time I’ve had with the N310. It feels really nice to hold, and oddly enough, I really like the chiclet keyboard. The 7+ hour battery is nice plus, too. I would have preferred Samsung stick with the non-glossy screen. The single-button rocker touchpad button is much improved over the NC10.

I also like the look and feel of the N310. It has a slight ruggedized look with the raised Samsung lettering. The rounded corners and rubberized coating also help set it apart from the familiar laptop look of the NC10. It feels good to hold, type on, and carry.

All in all, the N310 feels like a nice improvement over the NC10 and I’d recommend it to anyone needing   a good netbook with long battery life. The N310 is available in an assortment of colors for $479.

Dear gottabemobile, I’ve been researching a possible tablet buy for a while and never thought about finding an actual person who could actually let me touch and feel the various alternatives and consult on the best software solution. Any recommendation for someone in the NY metro area? Hoping to go paperless at work with tablet that would last eight hours with backup battery if necessary.
