HBO Go Now Available on Chromecast

Published

on

HBO Go has officially been added to Google’s Chromecast streaming stick, making it the fifth service to be compatible, following Pandora, Hulu Plus, Netflix and YouTube. HBO Go streaming works on both iOS and Android, and users will be able to beam HBO content from their mobile devices to the Chromecast with ease.

Chromecast functionality for the HBO Go app will come in the form of an update, which should have already arrived on both iOS and Android today from the iTunes App Store and Google Play, respectively.

HBO Go for Chromecast was expected to come earlier this year, so today’s availability isn’t too much of a surprise, although it is a little late, but we can’t be too mad, seeing as how delays are the norm these days. Of course, in order to take advantage of HBO Go in the first place, you have to be a subscriber to HBO, which also requires a cable subscription. However, Comcast recently announced that it will be offering a package that will give cable subscribers HBO without having to pay for other premium channels.

Google-ChromeCast

Chromecast was announced and launched earlier this year, with only support for Netflix, YouTube, and obviously Google’s own collection of content from the Google Play store. However, Hulu Plus arrived earlier last month, as did Pandora on Halloween. Pandora was announced as just one of the apps that Google confirmed would be coming to the Chromecast, and it’s finally here.

Of course, we’re still waiting on more apps to add Chromecast support. We would love to see more music services added on, including Spotify and Rdio, and Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service would also be pretty awesome. It’s only a matter of time before more big services get added to the Chromecast, so it’s really all about how patient you can be.
