HotFix for Safely Remove Hardware Bug In Vista
If you’ve been bitten by this bug there is now a fix. The bug only manifests itself in Vista if you left-click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the task tray and then click Safely Remove Device_name. Apparently this is a timing issue that has to do with memory being released while the system is attempting to remove the selected device.
This is a HotFix so you will need to request the Hotfix via email and at the moment it appears it is only available in the US.
