How to Follow the US Presidential Inauguration On-line

Let’s face it. If you’re in the USA, or from what I”m seeing just about anywhere, most of the focus the next few days is going to be on the historical Inauguration of Barack Obama as the next President of the United States.  No matter how you look at it, this will be a historic day in politics and US History, but it also shaping up as history making for on-line coverage of events as well. We’ve posted already about the iPhone Ustream app and Microsoft Sliverlight being chosen by the Inauguration committee, both of which let you watch portions of the festivities and ceremonies on-line. There are certainly other options available to you if you wish to watch or participate.

I anticipate Twitter, and Friendfeed to be very alive with news and reports, (it already is), and Facebook as well. I would imagine there will be quite a few folks watching the big event at 11:30 am on Tuesday on-line. Of course the real question will be if the broadband networks will hold up during all of this. Of course the networks will have live coverage and as it looks, will be putting their coverage on-line as well. Smart move. I’ve got to be in the office and we’re going to take a long and early lunch hour to gather around my iMac to watch the swearing in and speeches via SlingBox.

I won’t repeat the links they’ve compiled here (they did all the work) but you can follow the links above to find the on-line venue that’s right for you. Of course I’m sure a great many of folks will just tune into the traditional media as well. If you watch any of the festivities on-line, report back here over the next few days in comments and tell us how it worked for you. I imagine in the days that follow we’ll be hearing how the on-line component of this went. And keep in mind, one of the incoming Obama administration’s big initiatives is to increase broadband access here in the USA and to improve that infrastructure.
