How to Make Everything Look Bigger on Your iPhone 6

Published

on

The iPhone 6’s 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays are gargantuan, allowing for more apps to be placed on the home screen, as well as being able to fit more things in one window thanks to the higher resolution. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that everything will look bigger.

iOS 8 on the iPhone 6 keeps everything at the same size as on previous iPhones with smaller screens, even though the iPhone 6 has a larger display. This means that users can fit more apps onto the home screen and more text can be fit into one window.

However, if you want to take advantage of the larger display on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple includes a handy feature that essentially makes everything bigger on your iPhone 6’s screen, allowing you to read text more easily and get a better look at smaller images. This is an especially useful feature for those whose eyesight isn’t the best.

The option for this is actually a part of the setup process, but if you accidentally chose one option over the other, you can still go back and change it in the settings. Here’s how to do it.

Look Out, Texas

The Lonestar State isn’t the only place where everything is bigger. With one quick setting on your iPhone 6, you can make everything on the screen appear bigger in order to make it easier to view.

To do this, simply open the Settings app and then tap on Display & Brightness. Next, tap on View under Display Zoom.

From there, you have two choices: Standard or Zoom.

Standard is essentially the default view, and it gives you the same size of icons and text as previous iPhone have. However, the new Zoom option allows you too to make everything bigger, including app icons and text. However, you’ll still be able to fit the same number of apps onto the home screen as the Standard view, but you won’t be able to fit as many paragraphs onto the screen using the Zoom option.

Nevertheless, the Zoom view is great for those whose eyesight isn’t the best. Of course, you might be thinking that this is a great feature only for the older generation, but there are plenty of users who could benefit from using the Zoom option, including those who have to wear glasses or contacts, or those who are farsighted and can’t clearly see things that are closer up.

Obviously, these users would simply wear glasses or contacts, but people don’t wear them all the time, and sometimes they might need to look at their phone when they don’t have their glasses on or contacts in. Of course, those who have no problems with eyesight will probably want to stick with the Standard view.

Besides the larger display on the iPhone 6, the new device comes with faster WiFi capabilities, NFC functionality that will work with Apple Pay when it launches later this month, a completely new design that features rounded edges, and a better camera that has improved auto-focus and more features in the Camera app.

The larger display alone is what makes the iPhone 6 such a big improvement over the iPhone 5s. Apple has been behind on offering smartphones that have bigger displays, with the iPhone 5s set at 4 inches, while most flagship Android devices are rocking 5-inch displays mostly.

However, the iPhone 6 is finally up to par in that respect and it seems users are enjoying it.

Thanks. the zoom feature helped a bit but really Apple are behind in not being able to modify the icon sizes even more. Why can’t the icons increase in size more? I still can’t use my phone without glasses which is a pain if you are on a jog, walk etc

On the contact list the letters are so small down the right side of the screen it’s hard to touch the correct one. Anyway to bake them bigger?

I want the time and battery supply numbers larger which the “zoom” doesn’t do. Very frustrating.

The zoom does not make things big enough. In direct sun it would be nice to see- like the Kindle. The bar on top is too small(where the battery and such are).
