How to Put Music onto Your iPhone Without iTunes

Published

on

The iPhone is great for listening to music while traveling, but if you’re not a big fan of iTunes, here are some methods for getting that music onto your iPhone without using Apple software.

iTunes isn’t terrible by any means, but if you don’t really use it other than for putting music onto your iPhone, then you’re not really using it to its full potential, and you might as well find another method that can do a better job.

Plus, if you like to organize your music a certain way, you can avoid iTunes so that it doesn’t screw up your organizational method for all of your music.

There are a few methods you can use in order to get music onto your iPhone without using iTunes, some of which take a bit longer, while others involve using third-party software to upload your music library to and play your music from there.

Control music and take calls when connected to your iPhone or Android.

Here’s how to transfer music to your iPhone without using iTunes.

Using a Cloud Storage Service

Perhaps the easiest way to put music onto your iPhone without using iTunes is by using Dropbox, Google Drive or other cloud storage service. However, it’s also a method that takes the most time.

This method requires you to have the app of the cloud storage service on your iPhone, so if you use Dropbox, be sure to download and install the Dropbox app from the iTunes App Store. Furthermore, you can download and install the desktop app on your computer. Otherwise, you’ll be using the web interface.

To use could storage to transfer music to your iPhone, simply just copy and paste the music files into your Dropbox folder. Depending on the amount of music you transfer and the speed of your internet connection, the music could take a few minutes to a few hours to sync to Dropbox.

Once it’s synced, you’ll then be able to access the music files in the Dropbox app on your iPhone, and the app has a built-in music player where you can play any song right from the Dropbox app. You can even close out of the app and play around in other apps while the music still plays.

However, the only downside with using a cloud storage app is that the features are barebones compared to other dedicated music apps, and you’ll need an internet connection in order to play the music, since it’s stored in the cloud.

Using Third-Party Software

Unfortunately, there’s no easy method to get music onto your iPhone and listen to it through the built-in Music app. iTunes is the easiest method for this, but if you still want the features of a solid music player on iPhone, the Google Play Music app lets you upload your music library to the service and listen to it on your iPhone.

In order to upload your music library to Google Play Music, you’ll need to download Music Manager to your computer first. This piece of software will allow you to upload your own music to your Google Play Music account and then listen to it on your iPhone through the Google Play Music app.

Spotify also lets you do this, but the benefit here is that you don’t need a separate piece of software to upload music. By downloading and installing the Spotify desktop app, you can click on Local Files in the sidebar and drag-n-drop songs into the app and then sync them with the Spotify app on your iPhone.

Other than that, iTunes is about the easiest way to sync music to your iPhone. Even if you don’t use iTunes, you can simply just use it to import your music and then sync it to your iPhone. It’s not ideal if you don’t like iTunes, but if you enjoy iOS’s built-in Music app to play all of your music, iTunes is the easiest way to sync music to your iPhone.

You could include Style Jukebox under cloud services. It’s a cloud music locker and its features are not barebones when compared to other music players. Definitely worth a look.

There is also a good tool. Without using USB cable, you can put music on iPhone without iTunes. As long as you scan the QR code, you can transfer music to iPhone.
