The Battlefield 1 DLC 1 release is still a few weeks away but you can now try the They Shall Not Pass DLC right now ahead of its release date.

In March, DICE will release the first Battlefield 1 expansion for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.

Titled They Shall Not Pass, the Battlefield 1 DLC 1 is set to deliver new weapons, the French army, a new Elite class, new vehicles, four new maps, two Operations, and a whole lot more to Premium Pass holders.

The DLC will go on sale as a standalone piece of content two weeks after it’s released to those with the game’s season pass.

If you can’t wait that long, you can try the They Shall Not Pass DLC right now.

DICE has released an early version of They Shall Not Pass DLC for a select group of people to try ahead of launch. If you act quickly, and you meet the requirements, you could be a part of said group.

How to Try Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass DLC Early

DICE hinted at it and now its confirmed. The Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass DLC is now live for Windows PC users.

The developer’s released They Shall Not Pass into its Battlefield 1 Community Test Environment (CTE) for testing ahead of its release date in March. If you want to try the first Battlefield 1 DLC early, you must signup for the Battlefield 1 CTE.

We’ve put together a lengthy guide that covers the Battlefield 1 CTE but here are the Cliff Notes for those of you interested in trying They Shall Not Pass ahead of its release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.

First, it’s only open to Windows PC users. A Battlefield 1 CTE for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is in the works and it could be out for both platforms in March.

It’s not clear if it will reach the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 before They Shall Not Pass is officially released.

Second, you must own the Premium Pass to gain access to the Battlefield 1 CTE. The Premium Pass is $50 for PC, Xbox One and PS4 and it nets you the They Shall Not Pass DLC, the three upcoming expansions, and more.

Finally, the Battlefield 1 CTE requires you to signup via the Battlefield Companion app or via the More section in-game. Unfortunately, space in the CTE is limited  and there’s no guarantee you’ll get into the CTE in order to try out They Shall Not Pass.

So, if you want to try out the They Shall Not Pass DLC early, do yourself a favor and signup for the CTE right now.

The final version of the Battlefield 1 DLC is set to deliver a substantial amount of content to Premium Pass holders and those that buy it as a standalone piece of content.

It will deliver two new Operations, the French Army, four new maps, new weapons and gadgets, a new Elite class, new vehicles, new ranks, and more.

They Shall Not Pass is the first expansion but it won’t be the last. The developer is planning three more DLC packs including one that will introduce the Russian army to Battlefield 1.

Details about those three expansions remain scarce but we expect them to make an appearance in the CTE ahead of release as well.

13 Things to Know About Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass

They Shall Not Pass Update Size

They Shall Not Pass Update Size

DICE typically releases a base game update alongside its DLC expansion packs. With They Shall Not Pass (and we assume with the next three DLC's), it did things a bit different.

They Shall Not Pass was bundled into DICE's March Battlefield 1 update. The developer did this to "allow non-Premium members access to the content via Spectator mode." This gives non-Premium members a chance to check out the maps and content before buying the DLC.

Of course, this also means that everyone is required to download a massive game file in order to continue playing Battlefield 1.

If you haven't fired up Battlefield 1 in awhile, here's what you can expect from the They Shall Not Pass update for your platform:

PS4: 7.3GB

Xbox One: 8.35GB

PC: 5.88GB

In the months since They Shall Not Pass' release, DICE has released a Spring update, a May update, and a June update with a new map called Nivelle Nights. You'll need to download those as well.

If you're running out of space on your console now would be a good time to do some cleanup. And if you use a wireless connection, you might want to plug your ethernet cord in to see if that helps speed up your download.
