HTC Droid Incredible X Phablet Specs Leak

Published

on

New details are emerging that confirm earlier rumors about HTC’s 6435LVW 5-inch phablet efforts geared towards Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network. The latest information confirms a very high resolution 1080p HD display that measures 5 inches diagonally, giving the device a high 480 ppi resolution. Additionally, to drive the pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor will be used.

According to HTC Source, the phablet will not have a removable battery nor will users have access to a memory card slot to augment storage. Users will be capped with 16 GB of internal storage and will likely have to rely on cloud storage for additional storage.

HTC2_AWJK5jkxhJR6-602x360What’s unique is that there will be a second LED notification light for missed calls and other alerts on the back of the device near the camera module.

The device is currently referred to as the HTC DIx, hinting that it could be named the HTC Droid Incredible X once release. Whether this will cause confusion with the older Motorola Droid X series is unclear.

Unlike the earlier rumors about the device from today, HTC Source is reporting that the tablet may not have support for an active digitizer. The source mentions that the S Pen and HTC Scribe from the HTC Flyer did not work with the DIx tablet, which either means that there will be no support for an active digitizer or that HTC has not yet enabled the software for the pen to work.

Additionally, other benchmarks conflict with this rumors in that they show the device to be powered with a dual-core S4 CPU, not a quad-core one.

This device, when launched, will likely compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note II.

It sounds SOOOO GOOD…… until it get’s to the point about not having a removable battery or expandable memory? And a 16GB cap to “force” cloud adoption?!

HTC are really shooting themselves in the foot with this one.

What is this cloud service that allows me to stream really high quality 1080p rips? The cloud is good for some things but it’s still too slow. I mean OF COURSE I’m gonna wanna watch a ton of 1080p content on DAT SCREEN… but with only 16 Gigs where will I put such content?

It seems so unbalanced. Come on HTC! Don’t let me down!

I agree. A phone like this with 16GB of non-expandable / non-upgradeable storage. It seems to me that our throwing of rocks would be more appropriately aimed at Verizon than HTC. As a manufacturer, this would be a departure from HTC’s history of designing great hardware. As a controlling Carrier, this is right in line with Verizon trying to control a struggling manufacturer into releasing a beast of a phablet we all would want and releasing some kind of cloud service to drive up data usage. That said, I haven’t heard of such a “cloud service” from VZW so, maybe I’m just making this stuff up. :-)

Would NEVER buy a phone without a removable battery and removable memory, otherwise it sounds good but it fails with these 2 major flaws.
