HTC Kingdom to Revive Sprint’s HTC Hero Branding

Published

on

In addition to flagship HTC EVO 4G Android smartphone, Sprint may be looking to HTC to create an equally impressive, yet more affordable, Android variant under the HTC Hero branding. Leaked reports suggest that the codenamed HTC Kingdom may debut on the Now Network as the HTC Hero 4G.

While the Hero 4G may be priced as a more affordable handset, it carries a lot of the high-end features of the flagship HTC EVO 3D. Like the EVO 3D, the Hero 4G will support Sprint’s 4G WiMax network and carry the same high-resolution qHD display. Unlike the EVO 3D’s 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D qHD screen, the Hero 4G’s display will be a standard 2D-only experience that measures four inches, so it’s slightly smaller than the EVO’s.

Additionally, while the EVO 3D supports a dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon CPU from Qualcomm, the Hero 4G will utilize a single-core Snapdragon with the same clock speed.

The device will come with a front-facing camera for video chat, a single rear camera at 5-megapixel resolution, and also the ability to receive and transmit FM radio signals.

It’s unclear what the final price and availability information for this handset is.

News of this handset comes by way of a user comment on a pocketnow post.
