HTC One Android 4.3 Update Details Coming Fast

Published

on

A couple of weeks ago, HTC President Jason Mackenzie made a bold promise to owners of the HTC One and the Droid DNA in the U.S. Instead of Android 4.2, the company would roll out an HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update instead, an update that the company promised sometime in September. Mackenzie also promised Android 4.3 and Sense 5 for the Droid DNA. With September winding down, owners are looking for answers, and thankfully, we should have some soon.

HTC has been extremely aggressive with its Android updates this year. Recently, the company updated the HTC One X+ and HTC One X with Android 4.2 and Sense 5. Those updates came after the company had already delivered Android 4.2 for the HTC One and Android 4.2 and Sense 5 for the HTC Butterfly.

While those updates were pushed to devices outside of the United States, HTC was quick to release some details for those that own the HTC One and HTC Butterfly, known as the Droid DNA on Verizon, in the U.S.

Mackenzie took to Twitter and promised that the HTC One in the U.S., across SKUs, would be getting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in September. He made the same promise for the Droid DNA, that it would get Android 4.3 and Sense 5. Neither update has rolled out yet and Mackenzie is now back with some more information about the updates.

He claims that he will have more information about the HTC One X Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update at the beginning of next week which means that owners on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile should finally get some concrete answers, for better or worse.

The Droid DNA situation is far more confusing. Verizon recently confirmed an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the device, an update that will be coming with Sense 5. A noted HTC insider also suggested that it would be getting Android 4.2, not Android 4.3.

When asked about the Droid DNA’s chances of getting Android 4.3, Mackenzie responded “good” without elaborating. So it appears that the Droid DNA will likely get Android 4.3, it just might not be as soon as HTC had originally hoped.

Hopefully this doesn’t apply to the HTC One as well and fortunately, we should find out what HTC has in store for the HTC One as soon as the new week begins.

HTC One should be getting any and all updates before any other device, which sadly and frustratingly hasn’t been the case for us here in the US. Let’s hope this changes soon. :/

Why should the newest phone get the newest software updates when it has the newest hardware and exclusive features of sense 5 that they had already said that other phone like the DNA wouldn’t see. Other older phones should be updated regardless because of the standard two year update of contracts from carriers. Also because the older phones were flag ship phones at one time as well and they have been left behind in software updates unless you root your device.

Uh definitely not. The HTC one already got 4.2 recently. The DNA hasn’t had any updates recently and has never had an android upgrade… If any device needs the update first its the DNA. The HTC one still has months of support left and the DNA support days and dwindling down.

The HTC One got 4.2 if you lived anywhere but the US.. they gave us nothing here. Not saying older devices shoukdnt get the update but the newer ones should get it first, especially if these updates fix software bugs like the camera bug a lot of HTC Ones have.

If any device needs an upgrade is the DNA, this might be the only and last update this phone will ever see. The HTC One still has plenty of support left as mentioned above.

I hate it how every HTC one x version except the art version has 4.2.2. It’s quite depressing

Wireless charging is all you need to know when deciding between the one and dna. Once you start using it it’s hard to imagine going back to plugging in every day

OS Fragmentation at it’s best. It’s a Vanilla or Nexus device for me…no more f’n around with fragmentation. Either Google will give me an update or it won’t. Nobody should have to be the victim of cellular manufacturers when it comes to updates.
