HTC One (M8) Mini Rumors Fire Back Up

Published

on

Lately all the talk and attention has been on the brand new HTC One (M8) announced and released yesterday, but the smaller sibling we’ve heard rumors about hasn’t been left behind.

Just like last year HTC is apparently planning to offer a near identical version of the HTC One (M8), only it will be a smaller, more affordable variant. Now that the regular full-size phone has been revealed, the rumors have started to fire up already about the smaller model. Rumored to be called the HTC One Mini again, or the HTC One (M8) Mini.

According to the famed leakster @evleaks there’s actually two new HTC phones on the way. The HTC M8 Mini, and an unknown device being called the HTC M8 Ace. This is the first we’ve heard of the latter, but rumors have been swirling about a Mini M8 for months.

While this new leak reportedly confirms an HTC M8 Mini is in the works, there’s no additional details regarding specs or what potential customers can expect. Previous rumors suggest a Moto G type device coming in with medium range specs for an affordable price. Talks of a 4.5-inch 720p HD display, dual or quad-core low-end processor with 1GB of RAM, and even a 5 megapixel camera.

Rumors claim we can expect 16GB of internal storage and a device running the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat and the just revealed Sense UI 6.0 all in an affordable and pocketable size.

If the new HTC M8 Mini is anything like years past, users can expect a very similar overall design complete with the brushed aluminum frame and general design. There won’t be dual-cameras to keep the cost down, but we’re still hearing $349 contract-free, which isn’t too bad.

With a Sony Xperia Z1 Combat, the Moto DROID Mini, and even Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Mini from last year, this new device will have plenty of competition if indeed real. The original came months after the HTC One last year, and we’re expecting the same time frame with this new variant.

This all said, those loving the new HTC One (M8) but don’t want a large 5-inch phone, it may be worth waiting to see what the HTC M8 Mini has to offer.
