The HTC One Max release or launch could put the new HTC phablet up against the rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a September reveal.

HTC hopes to build on the success of the all metal HTC One with a new super-size smartphone toting a 6-inch screen, which should come to the market near the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 announcement in September.

A new leak from MobileGeeks states that the HTC One Max  will come in September, and include HTC One Max specs that could give HTC a fighting chance if the HTC One Max can make it to market without the same delays and issues that plagued the HTC One earlier this year.

The HTC One Max is rumored for September with a 6-inch display.

The HTC One Max launch in September is especially interesting given the date listed on a leaked Verizon HTC One press image. The image comes from well-known leaker evleaks with a September 6th date. The Verizon HTC One release should come ahead of this date, possibly as soon as August first.

That doesn’t mean this date is inconsequential. HTC placed the HTC One launch date on press images for the device earlier this year, and those images still show that launch date on AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

This Verizon HTC One press image shows a september 6th date, which would place the HTC One Max as coming a day after the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, according to the latest rumors.

The HTC One Max launch could take place on September 6th 2013 in Berlin at the IFA 2013 conference. HTC is an exhibitor at IFA 2013. This is the same event where Samsung is reportedly planning a Galaxy Note 3 launch, though Samsung will likely hold a separate event before IFA 2013 kicks off.

The rumored HTC One Max specs are on track with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, though the Note 3 may use a slightly smaller screen. Here are the latest HTC One Max spec rumors.

  • 6-inch 1080p LCD Display
  • 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 32/64GB Internal Memory
  • 3200mAh Battery

For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs appear to point to the following device;

  • 5.75-inch 1080P display
  • Exynos Octa 5 or Snapdragon 800 processor
  • 2-3GB RAM
  • 16GB model

If these leaks are correct, users that want a lot of storage will likely be drawn to the HTC One Max, as carriers in the U.S. are slow to offer higher storage options on Samsung models, which typically come with a Micro SD card option.

If the HTC phablet arrives at IFA 2013 and the HTC One Max release follows soon after we could see a rematch of the HTC One vs. Galaxy S4 battle from earlier this year. The HTC One series is part of a bigger comeback by the Taiwanese company.

The report also claims the company still plans to release the HTC One mini in July, which would offer a smaller version of the HTC One with a 4.3-inch 720P display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.
