HTC One Sprint Release Date Announced, Pre-orders Start April 5

Published

on

The HTC One will arrive on Sprint on April 19 for the $199.99, the same day the phone will come to AT&T.

Pre-orders for the Sprint version of the phone will begin a day later than AT&T on April 5. Sprint will only carry the 32GB model of the HTC One, offering it for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Sprint won’t carry the 64GB model of the phone, however, as it is exclusive to AT&T in the U.S.

Sprint will offer both the silver and black versions of the HTC One.

New reports point to HTC One release date delays and shortages into late Apri..

The Sprint release date makes the HTC One a rarity in that it will come to multiple carriers on the same date. Typically the iPhone is the only smartphone that will come to more than one carrier on the same date. Even Samsung, which is now able to release the same phone on all carriers had staggered release dates for the Galaxy S3 last year.

The April 19 release date should mean that Sprint will offer the HTC One before it offers the Samsung Galaxy S4. Samsung’s flagship phone likely won’t come to U.S. carrier until late April or early May. So far the closest official release date for the phone is a mention of May 1 from T-Mobile’s CEO.

On Sprint the HTC One will support the carrier’s expanding 4G LTE network, which is slowly catching up to AT&T’s 4G LTE network. Sprint promised its network will soon roll out in major cities such as New York City and San Francisco, though so far the network is only available in small sections of those cities. Sprint has yet to officially turn on its new network in those cities.

With the announcement of a Sprint release date, the only confirmed carrier that doesn’t have an official release date for the HTC One is T-Mobile. A release around April 19 seems likely, however.

There are rumors that Verizon will soon offer the HTC One, but neither the manufacturer nor the carrier has confirmed those rumors.

HTC has signed an exclusive agreement with AT&T to carry the 64. All other carriers only get the 32 gig. What a bonehead move.
