HTC One Update for T-Mobile Fixes LTE

Published

Users of the HTC One flagship device on T-Mobile have an update coming that will address some of the key issues T-Mobile users have reported with their devices.

According to a software update note posted to the carrier’s forums, HTC One users will begin receiving software update 1.27.521.11 today. Users will be able to download the update over the network without the need to connect to a computer or through the HTC software client using their laptop or desktop.

In today’s update posting, T-Mobile indicates that the software update is specifically designed to address software stability and provide “processor enhancements.” As neither were huge complaints in GottaBeMobile’s review of the HTC, it’s unclear what specific issues these improvements address.

This update will also address reception and connectivity issues specifically related to T-Mobile’s LTE network, according to the post. Since the HTC One’s debut, some users have reported that the device has a hard time switching between the newer, faster LTE data network, and areas still covered by T-Mobile’s older and slower HSDA+ network. This led to more than a few issues when using the network to download data for long periods, including music streaming with Google’s Play Music All Access streaming service.

Although, users will begin receiving the update today, T-Mobile says the update will continue to be delivered in waves until August 9th.

Unfortunately, this is not the update to Android 4.2.2 that many might have been hoping for. Recent leaks had indicated that the update would be rolling out to HTC One devices last Friday, however the update never materialized.

According to the Android 4.2.2 update change log from other countries, users can expect enhanced music play back, the ability rearrange widget panels, the ability to add widgets to the Android lock screen and more Home button customization. Users will also be able access their settings quicker thanks to a refreshed notification and settings area.

The Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC One will also add new settings for enabling exposure times when using the device’s camera, and the ability to create Zoe clips in a file format that can easily be used by other devices and online services.

There is still no word on when American users might see the update. It has already began rolling out to users abroad.
