HTC Rezound Android 4.0 Update Looks Good for April 6th

Published

on

Last week, a Best Buy document seemingly outed the Android 4.0 dates for the HTC Rezound, Motorola Droid RAZR and the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX. Today, another document from Best Buy has surfaced indicating a delay in the release Ice Cream Sandwich for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX while the date for the HTC Rezound’s update remains the same.

The document, dug up by Android Police, says that the update for both Droid RAZR smartphones has been delayed until an unspecified date. Originally, the updates were thought to have been coming on April 4th.

Yesterday, Verizon acknowledged that it would have details about the Droid RAZR MAXX update, at the very least, in the near future.

HTC Rezound Android 4.0 Update Looks Good for April 6th

The carrier said nothing about the update for the original Droid RAZR.

This new document still has the HTC Rezound update as arriving on April 6th which is tomorrow.

It’s possible that HTC and Verizon will delay the update in the same fashion as Android 4.0 for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX but we won’t know for sure until tomorrow rolls around.

The HTC Rezound, while currently Verizon’s flagship HTC smartphone, has dropped in price recently to $49 on-contract and will likely be replaced soon by the Droid Incredible 4G, the carrier’s first 4G LTE Droid Incredible.

These three represent a small fraction of the device’s that Verizon plans on upgrading to Android 4.0.

Other devices include:

HTC:

  • HTC ThunderBolt
  • DROID Incredible 2 by HTC
  • HTC Rhyme
  • HTC Rezound

  • DROID XYBOARD 8.2

I don;’t think the rezound will get replaced so soon given:
    – The rezound is only five months old
    – The rezound was a thunderbolt replacement
    – They still sell the droid incredible and replacing it with an existing brand is just not right

if anything the One S or one X would be its replacement. Think FLAG-SHIP phone people…

It sounds like best buy is using these leaks to sell phones, misinforming consumers so it will prip up sales for the rezound and razr.

The incredible 2 is a free phone, the Incredible barely even qualifies for trade-in value, and the Incredible 4G was codenamed “fireball” which showed up well before HTC said they were switchin g to the “ONE” series….The Rezound is $49.99 right now and will stay below $100 for a long time since the Incredible 4G’s specs aren’t as exciting as the others by HTC and they won’t be selling it for more than $200…

The Fighter has a 4.6″ HD SuperAmoled display with a possible intro to the 1.8Ghz dual-core TI OMAP4470 processor, the Maxx’s battery, and Android 4.0….if anything, Moto is waiting for people to get pumped about that first.

The One S is not much better than the Incredible 4G..it has the same processor, just overclocked, the same screen, probably around the same screen size, etc, so the S will never hit Verizon…..also, the One X is being changed for Sprint…Verizon has no plans to get it…at least not until well into Summer…and before Summer is the Galaxy S 3, who’s rumored specs will leave HTC in Second Place….so instead of waiting and waiting on Verizon, grab the Rezound with the 30 return, see how you like the Fighter, and look at the new Incredible…and if you like one more than the Rezound, return it.
