HTC Says the One X is Better Than the Samsung Galaxy S III

Published

on

Internal documents have revealed how HTC in planning to sway consumers from the Samsung Galaxy S III to its HTC One X smartphone.

The documents, acquired by PriceBaba and courtesy of The Next Web, show a list that features “countering objections” where HTC runs down a list of reasons why the One X bests the Galaxy S III. The list itself is intended for salespeople who will likely be peppered with questions in regards to the Galaxy S III’s features.

Running down the list, one can see that HTC has quite a few counterpoints in regards to how the One X matches up with the Galaxy S III.

Read: HTC One X Review | $199 AT&T 4G LTE.

As far as the Galaxy S III’s slimness is concerned, HTC says it’s only a 0.3mm difference and that the One X feels lighter and thinner in the hand.

It also touts the HTC One X’s display, one of the best on Android, saying that it true HD LCD is superior to the Samsung Galaxy S III’s PenTile Matrix display and that the Galaxy S III’s display looks worse when looking in at it from an angle.

HTC vigorously defends several of the issues I had with the One X.

First, the use of a non-removable battery. HTC says that the One X’s battery can last a full day (that’s not really an argument), that the removable battery requires a separate charger, a removable battery requires the phone to be turned off, and that the removable battery allowed HTC to better design the One X’s unibody form factor.

Second, HTC defends the lack of a microSD slot on the HTC One X by saying that the phone offers 32GB of internal storage plus DropBox cloud storage which brings the phone up to 57GB.

It also does a side-by-side comparison of some of the other key specifications which can be seen below.

Obviously, HTC thinks its phone is better than the Galaxy S III and that’s the position it has to take as the Samsung Galaxy S III is already selling extremely well and those numbers should go up once it lands in the United States later on this month.

If I hadn’t seen that chart with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe how pathetic HTC could become.

    Better speed? Better camera?
LOL Every review and benchmark shows the Galaxy S3 has superior performance and camera quality.

    Better durability?
LOL Polycarbonate = plastic! And the S3 is ALSO polycarbonate.
I can’t believe HTC would stoop to this pathetic level of dishonesty.

    Better screen?
Samsung’s screen technology is second to none. The entire world knows that.

Better design is a matter of opinion.
In my opinion, HTC’s phones look like cheap Chinese knock offs of the Lumia. The back also looks like it has a nipple or a dead fish eye

My god HTC. How low you have fallen. I lost all remaining shred of respect I had left for you.

Get a grip people!!! (HTC ONE X RULES) JUST GET USED TO IT>>

SAMSUNG S3 —> FAIL — like every samsung product, you always have to take them back..

      (HTC is the future)

    Pull yourself together HTC.
I still like the Company but not the products coming out so far.
Try 5.5″ HD screen with Quad core and you have my business.

In terms of which phone is better, let the consumer decide and so far SG3 is the current leader IMHO

I use the Galaxy Note by the way, Screen size is my no.1 priority.

These are all matter of personal opinion, however giving the opportunity and the MEANS to any of the two phones I will go for the HTC ONE X. This phone is just up there. In fact it is second to none.

“These are all matter of personal opinion”

      Really?

I didn’t know OBJECTIVE facts like the S3 having faster performance, better camera, longer lasting battery, more storage, and more fluid and intuitive UI are matter of OPINION.

Thanks for helping me understand the meaning of OPINION. /sarcasm

I’d select the Samsung GSIII since it has a removable battery and expandable memory.the Galaxy S III camera is definitely the superior camera. Many people who’ve had extensive time with comparison of the One X and Galaxy S III have agreed Galaxy S III better than the One X camera in terms of overall quality. I heard that Galaxy S III and iPhone 4S used the same 8M pixel image senor from Sony.

The first and only HTC phone i ever had was the Eris. I got it when it first came out in October or November 2009. I loved it till the digitizer started having dead touch spots after a year. There was no help from HTC with their defective product. I had a case for it and it was never dropped. It was such a disappointment when it wore out so quickly and HTC would not back it up. I had to wait several months with a barely usable phone before i could replace it. The only reason it remained barley usable was that it also had a trackball. I replaced it with the first Samsung Galaxy S, and have loved the Galaxy S since then (February 2011.) I’ve had no problems and only a growing enthusiasm for it. It is quality crafted instrument. I have to wait till October to get the Galaxy SIII, and am eager get one. It’s the larger screen, RAM, camera, processor, Android 4.0 and 4G features that entice me to upgrade. I guess the shity build of the HTC and their crappy customer service steered me toward Samsung, so all was not bad with that learning experience. Never again an HTC!

I dont really like the design of the S3, ofc I ll have to see in person, but from the videos I seen it looks like shit.
you cant argue that the one x is a better looking phone.
If you do I feel sorry for you.
The camera on the one X beats the living shit out of the iphone 4s, I would love to see the s3 beat that.

“The camera on the one X beats the living shit out of the iphone 4s, I would love to see the s3 beat that.”

I’ve got good news for you. All the reviewers have found that the S3’s camera is better than the One X, and several of them have said it’s the best camera on a smartphone.

“I dont really like the design of the S3, ofc I ll have to see in person, but from the videos I seen it looks like shit.”

Funny because most people have said the exact opposite. They thought it looked bad in pictures, but when they actually held it in their hands, they said it looks very beautiful.

“you cant argue that the one x is a better looking phone.
If you do I feel sorry for you.”

It’s definitely arguable. If you think otherwise, I feel sorry for you.

The One X looks like a cheap Chinese knockoff of the Lumia.
Plus the back looks like it’s stuck with a nipple or a dead fish eye.

The Samsung fan boys are so deluded.

HTC, first to release a quad core phone.

Samsung hang back a couple months to pretty much carbon copy of the internal specs.
Touch wiz interface is so shit and with all this ram you only have 250mb to play with.
You can’t move apps to the sd card.
The camera is not better, It’s exactly the same.
It’s proper plastic and the feel is crap.

Now let’s wait for iphone 5 because they will copy both HTC and Samsung and call it revolutionary. Plus ios6 will copy all of androids features etc.

I am typing this comment with my one x and I would say it’s a really decent phone. If you don’t care about the non-removable battery and lack of sdcard slot then I would say go for the one x.

There is one obvious thing that the One X has on the GS3. It has beats audio, and trust me beats audio does really sound amazing. I have their headphones and their audio on my computers, and I’ve tested the difference and with beats audio it sounds much better. I love music more than anything about a phone but the beats audio isn’t the only reason I like the One X. I like the One X’s design more because i always liked when phones didn’t have too rounded edges. The GS2 had a better design in my opinion because too rounded edges turn phones sideways in my pockets and its really annoying. In my opinion the One X also has a better camera and display. The only thing i don’t like is the lack of having an SD card, and the uni body is okay but not that big of a deal for me.

I don’t go in for come-backs so don’t bother. These are simply my opinions: I will leave un-verifiable references to “every review says…” out of it.
I recently spent a lot of time comparing the two phones. There’s an AT&T store down the block from work. I drove them crazy with all of my side-by-side tests. Here’s my report card:
Camera …….. One’s camera is sharper and the S3’s over-saturates color like crazy.
Music ……….. No contest. Beats beats S3. Truly impressive.
Storage …….. S3 of course. 16GB is enough for fuddy old me, but maybe not everyone.
Speed ………. S3 won in boot up, One beat S3 slightly in browser (both had 4G in SF) They basically have the same processor so I call this a tie.
UI …………….. HTC has backed off their Sense UI tweaks so it’s tolerable. Samsung has double-downed on TouchWiz which I don’t like. Matter of preference.
Design ………. One’s unibody design beats S3’s flimsy back in my opinion. It’s also curvier and feels better in my hand.
Call quality….. One wins again. I had to ask two AT&T store employees to call each other for this test. After switching the phones between us we all agreed. One was just clear and did a better job of canceling out street noise.

Since I bought the One X, I can report first hand:
Battery ……… Lasts a day of my relatively heavy use (long commute = videos & games!)
The big test was accidental. I dropped my One X onto a wood floor from about 5 feet, and no damage at all. Even my buds at the AT&T store wouldn’t let me try that with the S3. :)

I forgot the display. One’s won. Check them out side by side. S3’s is dimmer and still over-saturates colors. One’s white is amazing and I could see that it was slightly sharper.

The only thing that has me slightly worried is: what if the battery life deteriorates too much? I couldn’t get a straight answer from AT&T about their policy and price if I want to replace it.

      OK done!

Galaxy phones have been known to over-saturate color in the camera/display.

I personally think that the HOX is better. However, Samsung has marketing and a user-friendly name that’s easy to remember. Much like the iPhone, no pun intended.
