HTC Trophy and HTC Merge Appear at Verizon, Releases Imminent

Published

on

In a report over the weekend, Pocketnow unearthed a trio of unannounced phones on Verizon’s website, devices that include the Samsung Gem, the HTC Merge and the highly anticipated Windows Phone 7 powered HTC Trophy.

Samsung Gem

While all 3 devices have been known to be heading to Big Red’s airwaves, none of them have been officially announced. However, now that they have appeared on Verizon’s website, it looks like they will get release dates sometime in the very near future.

HTC Merge

Both the Samsung Gem and the HTC Merge have been confirmed for Alltel, the Merge already being up for pre-order, but this is the first time we’ve seen them showing off in an official Verizon capacity.

The most interesting of the bunch is definitely the HTC Trophy which will be the debut of Windows Phone 7 on Verizon’s network. There have been all sorts of rumors regarding the HTC Trophy’s release but none as specific as last week’s leak that indicated that the Trophy would land officially on April 15th.

And now that the Trophy has shown up on Big Red’s website, it’s looking more and more like April 15th could be the day.

Keep an eye out for official announcements very, very soon.

I won’t believe it until I’ve actually made my first call with my Trophy. What’s so hard about giving us a firm release date, Verizon? You’re releasing a new phone guys, not building a rocket to Pluto.

Exactly. I’m so over having to wait for Verizon to get new devices to market. I’m ready to pull the plug on Big Red and go see why Sprint is winning awards for customer service.

What Verizon is doing with WP7 and the HTC Trophy is just unacceptable. It’s one thing that they are the last carrier to get WP7, but I am much more upset about their complete lack of info about it. No release date, no comments, no updates…no anything.

Why is it that whenever a rumored release date of the HTC Trophy emerges on the Internet, Verizon says NOTHING about it. Every month since January, I’ve read some article on the Internet that the Trophy’s launch is “imminent”. Rumored release dates have come and gone…and Verizon had no comment to make about it.

Just a few weeks ago, the Trophy was rumored to come out on March 24th. Well that day has come and gone, and Verizon had nothing to say. Now the rumored release date is supposedly April 15th. That info emereged almost a week ago, but still there has been no word from Verizon. Hello, Verizon…are you even aware of the rumors? If they are not true, then at least say SOMETHING. Stop pretending like WP7 doesn’t exist.

Verizon needs to wake up. They must not realize just how many of their customers want WP7. In my opinion, the lack of support from Verizon is the only thing holding back the mainstream success of WP7 in the U.S. There are way too many people out there who have no idea what WP7 is. That will surely change once Verizon adopts it.

I’m fed up with waiting, and I would have switched carriers months ago if I wasn’t on a family plan.

Dear Verizon: RELEASE THE TROPHY. LET ME GIVE YOU MY MONEY!!!
