HTC Trophy And Windows Phone 7 Coming To Verizon Soon

Published

on

Back on March 14th, a document leaked out that accurately predicted the launch date of the HTC ThunderBolt and also pointed to a March 24th release of the HTC Trophy and thus, Windows Phone 7 on Verizon.

HTC Trophy

Unfortunately, the HTC Trophy and WP7 won’t be hitting Big Red on Thursday, at least, according to a report from wpcentral. However, the device is said to be very close to release and it’s said that testing of the phone is going well, that it’s currently being evaluated for standards certification and that Verizon and Microsoft are still waiting on a release date but that it should be announced ‘very soon.’

That information apparently comes from someone with Verizon and is very recent, meaning, it’s safe to say that it’s pretty accurate.

The HTC Trophy will likely launch on Verizon under a different name and it will be coming with the NoDo copy and paste update that Microsoft finally started sending out to Windows Phone 7 owners Tuesday.

I’m wondering if its too late for Windows Phone 7. To come out this late with a weak unit and not LTE seems like a step backwards. I was excited about WP7 back in December and if it was released on VZ in January I would have probably owned one already LTE or not. But at this point with the Thunderbolt out, the Samsung Droid Charge and the Moto Droid Bionic in the coming weeks, its a no win. Which is too bad.

The Thunderbolt’s the first LTE handset, and it’s been out for less than a week. There won’t be an LTE iPhone until next year. If you prefer Android or you need LTE, then your choice is obvious. But just as I assume people are still buying iPhones, they will still buy Windows Phones if that’s what they want.

The most cutting edge handsets from Samsung and HTC will be running Android, because that’s where their volume sales are. It’s just a fact of life.

Most people aren’t in LTE coverage and aren’t even on the plans to be getting it any time soon. If you are lucky enough tog get LTE I’m happy for you, but I will be on 3G for a year maybe two or more.

Please, please wait for the qwerty, if folks like you and I (<–Die hard qwerty user here agonizingly waiting for a win7 phone) simply quit waiting and go with a non qwerty phone, they'll just stop giving us the option at all, because..'screw 'em they'll buy a non qwerty eventually'. Vote with your wallet until you get what you want, or until we all become sheeple with iPhones.
