iGo: Bluetooth Stowaway Keyboard Being Discontinued

- Rob Bushway

Last week, I posted about a story Pocket PC Magazine ran regarding the iGo Stowaway Keyboard being discontinued.

stowaway keyboard I followed up with iGo for more information, and it is true. They are discontinuing the Stowaway Bluetooth keyboard in order to focus on their power adapters.

Here is what iGo shared with me:

Mobility Electronics/iGo is discontinuing the production of the iGo Stowaway Bluetooth keyboards.  They are going to focus their attention on the flagship iGo products, the line of universal power adapters.

While the Stowaway Bluetooth keyboards are widely used throughout the mobile community, Mobility Electronics’ has identified that its strengths lie with the production, design and distribution of its industry-leading, award-winning line of power adapters.

Be sure to watch Warner's InkShow video review on the iGo Stowaway Bluetooth keyboard. I think you'll want to grab one up after watching it!

Just going to toss this in. If you can find this keyboard for sale, I'd grab it up. One of the best accessories I have added to my toolkit in a long time. Works great with any bluetooth equipped device, and you know we'll be seeing more of those come down the line.

I got mine from Directron. This is the best darn portable keyboard I have ever used in sixteen years of portable computing, and in addition to the basic usability, the Bluetooth version just works with any old Bluetooth-enabled UMPC or ultracompact design. By the way, I have used the USB version, and the proprietary cable for it is just too short to be practical, so if you're interested, you need to do a quick online search for keywords ThinkOutside Stowaway iGo Sierra Bluetooth keyboard. Understand there is a good deal on these on Amazon.com for U.S. folks out there.

i do wonder why thye cant licence the prodduction off to a third party or something.

if its such a hit as they make it sound, it seems like a very bad business sense to discontinue the production...
