How to Increase Font Size on the Galaxy Note 3

Published

on

Changing the font size on your Android smartphone is nothing new, but having a device as large as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a 5.7-inch screen makes this option all the more worthwhile. For many the Note 3 is the perfect device simply because the larger screen is easier on their aging eyes, just like my parents who both have the Note 2, and you’ll be happy to know you can make it even better by increasing the font size.

A device with a screen this big you’ll almost want to increase the size of the font, not to mention if someone has poor vision and opts for a device of this size, you’ll naturally want to increase the font anyways. Below is a simple few pictures and instructions on how you can do this on most Android devices, and all Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Oh, and you can change the style too if you’d like.

As you can see above the default font size comes in set as small, which is a fairly balanced size for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but you’ll be able to make it super tiny or outright huge if you need. Changing the font on your Android smartphone has always been easy, and with Samsung there’s two different ways, both which are extremely simple and detailed below.

How to Increase Font Size on the Galaxy Note 3

Increasing the font size can be done two different ways with the Galaxy Note 3 and most Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and both are in the same setting menu on the device. You’ll want to start by tapping the menu button on your device (left of the home button) and selecting system settings. That or you can simply open the application tray and find the gear-shaped Settings icon.

From here you’ll see 4 Tabs at the top of the screen. With the Galaxy Note 3 you’ll want to select “Device” to head into device settings. At this point you’ll be able to scroll down and find the “Font” option, or the “Accessibility” section. Both will accomplish the same task. Tapping Font as you see in the image above will bring you to a new menu with Font Style, as well as Font Size. From here you can increase the font with the size chart shown in our image. This is also where you’ll be able to change the style if you want something a little more snazzy.

Menu > Settings > Device > Font (or Accessibility) Font Size > and select the size of choice

Then for those with impaired vision Samsung also has the same option and more in the Accessibility menu. You’ll get here with the same instructions above. Using Settings and heading to the device tab, followed by the Accessibility section. Here you’ll be able to increase the font like above, but also enable gesture to magnify text when needed, not to mention set colors to negative for the visually impaired.

Samsung also has color adjustment options, and tons of text-to-speech features that will give an audible explanation for those with less than stellar vision.

Should You Do This?

Obviously this part of the post is self explanatory. Being a setting completely based on personal needs, there’s no opinion that matters here. If you need bigger font, we have you covered. It’s that simple. Just head into settings and change the font under the device tab, and you’ll have larger font for easy reading in no time. Samsung also offers options to increase legibility by cranking the brightness on text in the same “font” section, for those who still have a hard time reading on their smartphone.
