Intel Announces New Extreme Processor for Laptops

Published

on

Intel_BlueOnWhiteIntel is taking the wraps off of new faster processors for laptops. No word yet on whether we’ll see this in Tablet PCs, as I’m guessing this is aimed at the gaming market. The Core 2 Extreme X7800 will run at 2.6GHz with an 800MHz front side bus and 4mb of Level 2 cache. It offers what they call Enhanced Deep Sleep and Advanced Media Boost, and can be overclocked. Without overclocking, Intel is promising a 28% performance boost, but that’s compared to the Core Duo T2600 and there have been advances beyond that chip.
