So far, iOS 5.1.1 seems to be doing what it promised. However, my email accounts are not functional. This was a problem with 5.0 with some g-mail accounts. Now, I can no longer receive emails through my current account. I use Comcast mail server. The settings were not changed prior to update, nor after. I keep getting error stating that my user name and password can’t be verified, or it will say they are incorrect. So, I tried setting up through exchange, no luck there neither. I’ve also discovered that my iPad 2 seems to be running a bit slower, especially with my keyboard interaction. This is the same for my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4s. Any advice?

Yes, reset your device in settings without altering or deleting media or data.

If it doesn’t work, go to an Apple store. They will fix it for you quickly; if not then they will give you a new device and transfer your data for you. Make sure to backup your files to a computer before you go just in case.

Wait, so how should you update it if you are running 5.0.1 iphone 4s jailbroken? Would you update to 5.1.1 then jailbreak? Or would you run the jailbreak again? I don’t want my jailbreak data to go away…

I also have a 4S that was running iOS 5.0.1. I couldn’t do the update OTA. I ended up this.

        1. Connect to computer via iTunes (in my case Windows 7 64-bit).
        2. Right click the iPhone and hit Backup.
        3. Right click the iPhone and hit Transfer Purchases.
        4. Click on Update. Let it do its thing.
        5. Download and run Absinthe 2.0.1

During my first attempt, Absinthe crashed on me. I just simply reran it. It was able to recover and try the JB again. I was successful. All my non-JB settings were successfully retained.

For my JB stuff, I bought xBackup for $1.50 in Cydia. It allowed me to back up my JB apps and settings to a cloud-based server. I’m now restoring my JB apps via xBackup. :)

Don’t update to 5.1.1 on an iPad. I did and now safari, iMail, and other apps freeze and crash daily. Also the entire interface is laggy including the keyboard. Luckily, I just bought the iPad 3 so I took it back to Best Buy and they gave me a replacement. I am running 5.1 and it is smooth as most apple devices. Beware, I promise you will regret it if you don’t already.
