Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak Promised for iPhone 5, 4S on December 22nd

An un-named hacker promises the first untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, 3 and 4 on December 22nd.

Dream Jailbreak announced plans to release an untethered iPhone 5 jailbreak that runs on iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.1 later this month. This iOS 6 jailbreak tool is reportedly capable of jailbreaking most current Apple devices, including the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2 and newer, iPad Mini as well as the iPod Touch fourth gen and newer.

This would be an improvement over the tethered iPhone 4 jailbreak on iOS 6 with Cydia. An Un-tethered jailbreak allows users to reboot the device without it attached to a computer, and is more realistic for daily use.

iOS 6 jailbreak untethered release

Dream Jailbreak claims an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak release date for December 22.

According to the Dream Jailbreak hacker, proof of the iOS 6 jailbreak is going live on Wednesday December 12th, in the form of an un-edited video that will show the entire iOS 6 jailbreak process.

The jailbreak is not a one-click and done jailbreak, but according to the Dream Jailbreak Team this new iOS 6 jailbreak is, “very easy to do.” This is reportedly a userland exploit so Apple will fix it quickly.

The iOS 6 jailbreak process will install Cydia according to the Dream Jailbreak FAQ. Cydia lets the users install tweaks and new apps not approved by Apple. It’s important to note that not all new cydia apps and tweaks are capable of running on the iPhone 5.

Joshua Hill, a well-known iOS hacker, Tweeted “They’re all fake” on December 8th, but did not call out Dream Jailbreak specifically, though he did address the ARB Dev team which claimed to show an iPhone 4S jailbreak on iOS 6 recently.

The video above is not tied to the Dream Jailbreak’s upcoming video of proof, but some experts claim the video might be a developer account phone running a compiled version of Cydia.

The Dream Jailbreak Untethered iOS 6 Jailbreak release date is swiftly approaching and it looks like the tool will support Windows and Mac. There is no information on whether the iPhone 5 jailbreak is a free release or if the Dream Jailbreak will ask users to pay to jailbreak.
