Pod2G Turns Attention Back to iOS 6 Jailbreak

Published

on

Famed iOS hacker pod2g is ready to focus on the iOS 6 jailbreak now that his new iPad app podDJ is live in the App Store.

You probably know Pod2g for his work on the iOS 6 jailbreak and for his role in providing an iPhone 4S jailbreak last year, but his new app is one music lovers and DJ’s should check out.

In January pod2g said he would return to jailbreaking once he finished work on his app and the app’s website. Over the weekend, podDJ, launched in the App Store, offering a full featured DJ experience on the iPad for just $8, and a ton of special features that look to satisfy professional DJ’s and amateurs like us.

In a post to his blog this morning pod2g, aka Cyril, announced his new company 2G Lab. This new company will focus on app creation and security research. For now it looks like Cyril is planning to focus on iOS, which is no surprise  ut on Twitter he mentions he might branch out to Android later this year.

Cyril’s return to security work is great news for users waiting for the iOS 6 jailbreak release. Cyril previously stated that he is hopeful for the next few months and expressed excitement about working with @Planetbeing. In an interview from December 2012, Cyril said,

Working with @planetbeing motivates me a lot. He’s always very resourceful and he raises the bar.

cydia-logoPlanetbeing is one of the most public figures working on the iOS 6 jailbreak. Last week he confirmed success on an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5, one that works on the lastest iOS 6.0.2 software. The iOS 6 jailbreak isn’t ready for release yet. Doing so would burn an exploit that is essential to future jailbreaks and the team wants to wait until after iOS 6.1 is out so as not to sacrifice bugs.

Based on the information we currently know, users who want to jailbreak the iPhone 5, iPad 4 and iPad mini should not upgrade to iOS 6.1 when Apple releases it. The iOS 6.1 release date is unknown, but it could arrive as early as this month.

With Planetbeing and pod2g working together, alongside less public members of the jailbreak team, it’s a good time for those of us waiting for an iPhone 5 jailbreak.

Stay tuned for the latest iOS 6 jailbreak news.

He won’t be the only one expanding to android, I have about had it with Apple. Their strategy of releasing updates and devices every few months is of course making them rich while the sheeple keep eating it up and buying devices they don’t need. As for the jailbreakers they have followed lead with Apple they keep saying it is coming so you keep checking their sites and reading their ads. Time for all you followers to wise up and get a life. Don’t let these people dictate your life. Iphones may be the best but without jailbreak they are just another phone. If a jailbreak is doable and available they should release it. Enough with the well we can’t right now BS.

Are you seriously complaining that you cannot use your phone because its not jailbroken? I have never jailbroken my phone and I don’t feel like I’m missing a thing. And for the revisions of the iPhone, do you expect them to not want to produce a bigger and better product? Technology is advancing all the time, they are not the only pone manufacturer that makes revisions… Motorola droid, droid 2 , droid max…. Or maybe Samsung galaxy … S1 s2 s3, galaxy tablet… All released within a short time of the others…

IPhone is junk without a jailbreak, I took mine back and got a s3 just for that reason, even tho iPhone 5 is a better phone, but when it’s jailed it just sucks

I tried to download Pod2g’s app to help support him for what he does, but, ironically, the app requires me to have iOS 6 and I refuse to update until a jailbreak comes out. LOL!!!

I used to use my iPhone, jailbroken of course, as a GPS on my screen in the car. Haven’t been able to since I upgraded to ios6. Meanwhile, Samsung looks better and better. iTunes shows I own over 1200 apps so Apple has plenty of my money. Not to mention the 3 iPads and 5 iPhones and numerous iPods I’ve had over the years. My brother already has switched to an s3. I’m not far behind…

What does the S3 have that IPhone 5 doesn’t have?

Here’s the thing……. I have owned most all i-devices from the 3gs/4/4s to ipads 1/2 and various ipods, I also have Blackberry’s 64gig Playbook. All of the above Rooted/Jailbroken…… Anyway being a bit obsessive about the condition of my much loved gadgets my son never got to touch them for my fear of damage…. So I decided to invest in Android versions of my gadgets for him…. How surprised was I at what I always considered to be no more than a third rate childs OS….. Now while Apple and Blackberry have all but managed to close the holes in their OS’s to stop the Rooting/Jailbreaking of their devices the Android systems seem to be better supported by the devs working on rooting devices. Here’s what I have found,

PlayBook’s rooting stopped with the Dev’s dropping the “DingleBerry” project. There is no Root/Jailbreak for current or future OS releases at this time, nor is anyone working on anything……

Apple’s IOS 6 and above again no Jailbreak at this time, several scams and claims.. but nothing released…. Lots of excuses as to why this is but no release or even pending release date…..

Android, I now have 4 devices (2 phones and 2 Tabs), 2 Mid and 2 High end specs, all rooted within minutes of turning on and initial setup, and both phones unlocked within hours of ownership…. All 4 units perform as well if not better than their higher priced competitors, which all in all has made me question my loyalty to what I used to feel was the better systems…..

I think if you can afford the latest Iphone/Ipad before you lock yourself to the constraints that Apple and BlackBerry are trying to enforce, give a high end Android device a look…

Remember what you paid for your i-device, surely that should mean as long as your not stealing anything then you should be allowed to use it as you wish not how they dictate.

And for that reason I think I might stick with the Android systems……Cause I paid my money, it’s my device and I’ll run what ever app I want to….Endorsed or not !!!!

Fair points but i only paid £160 bucks for a brand spanking new network locked iPhone 5 :) And orange are going to unlock in a months time i feel sorry for people who have tied them self’s with a two year contract £100s to own the iPhone 5 then monthly £45 for 24 months idiots people am if they didn’t flock to apple stores in the millions maybe they wouldn’t be so pricey…

Android is awesome but Big G is getting on top of things too for example running apps you never purchased they only work for so long then they stop working i experienced that on my note i wasn’t rooted ??
