iOS 7.0.4 & iOS 7.1 Update Sightings Increase

Many iOS 7.0.3 users have been clamoring for an iOS 7.0.4 or iOS 7.1 update to relieve them of the bugs they claim are present inside Apple’s mobile software. And while Apple hasn’t announced anything, iOS 7.0.4 and iOS 7.1 update sightings have increased in recent days, a sign that Apple may be working on two new iOS 7 updates for iPhone and iPad users.

In late October, Apple rolled out its iOS 7.0.3 update, a massive bug fixer that was aimed at quelling the issues surrounding its iMessage service and tools that teachers depend on to monitor the iPad usage of their students. The update also brought along a number of other fixes and also deployed the company’s iCloud Keychain feature.

iOS 7.0.3 and its bug fixes haven’t silenced iPhone and iPad owners dealing with lingering issues in iOS 7 though and we have heard from a number of iOS 7.0.3 users who are still dealing with problems, some that have been around since the company debuted iOS 7 in September. Those who are experiencing problems have begun to appeal for an iOS 7.0.4 or iOS 7.1 update for fixes. Unfortunately, Apple is typically silent on its incremental updates, leaving iPhone and iPad users to come up with their own predictions.

iOS 7.0.4 sightings have picked up recently.

That said, there are a few clues. Gotta Be Mobile has been seeing a pick up in traffic from devices that are evidently running iOS 7.0.4 and iOS 7.1. This is nothing new but activity has picked up in recent days, a sign that something could be close. It appears that we aren’t the only ones noticing this activity as MacRumors reports seeing the same thing in their analytics.

Interestingly, the iOS 7.1 users that we’re seeing are centralized in San Francisco, a city to the north of Cupertino, and a likely testing ground for Apple engineers using unreleased iOS software. The fact that we’re seeing iOS 7.0.4 doesn’t guarantee an arrival ahead of iOS 7.1 but it is a sign that we could see a smaller bug fix update before we see the larger iOS 7.1 update.

But so have iOS 7.1 sightings.

But so have iOS 7.1 sightings.

As we’ve pointed out, iOS 7.1 is likely going to come with feature enhancements in addition to bug features and it could be that Apple saves that update for a later date. Last year’s iOS 6.1 update rolled out in January.

iPhone and iPad owners should have a new update at some point in the future, it’s just a matter of which update and when.
