iOS 9.3 Jailbreak Release: When Will We See It?

Published

on

We have yet to see a new jailbreak release for the iPhone or iPad since the initial jailbreak when iOS 9 was first released, but an iOS 9.3 jailbreak is looking more promising. Here’s when we think we’ll see it release.

iOS 9.3 has been announced, but it has not yet officially released to the public. It’s currently available in beta mode that developers can try out, as well as users who are signed up for Apple’s public beta program. iOS 9.3 is in its sixth beta so far, and that’s likely the last or second-to-last beta that we’ll see before iOS 9.3 officially releases to the public.

However, an iOS 9.3 jailbreak is a whole other beast, so while iOS 9.3 will release soon enough, an iOS 9.3 jailbreak release is a different story.

iOS 9.3 comes with a handful of new features that vastly improve iOS 9, including improvements to Notes and News, as well as a new Night Shift mode that changes the display’s color temperature to a warmer tone at night in order to not cause eye strain.

In any case, if you’re looking forward to an iOS 9.3 jailbreak, here’s what to know so far and when we might see it release.

iOS 9.3 Jailbreak Status

Since iOS 9.3 has been in the beta stages for quite some time, it’s given individual jailbreak developers the chance to sift through the code and find any possible exploits that could lead to a jailbreak.

A video from developer qwertyoruiop shows a jailbreak running on an earlier iOS 9.3 beta, proving that an iOS 9.3 jailbreak is at least possible right now.

The developer has said that we won’t release his exploits and knowledge about it, but it’s a proof of concept that shows this is possible. With that said, it’s likely that developers who do want to release a jailbreak can eventually figure it out and jailbreak iOS 9.3 themselves.

Case in point, developer enMTW, who has the intentions of releasing a jailbreak, recently posted a screenshot of an iOS 9.3 beta 3 jailbreak that he created. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been anything significant since that little tease, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he was holding back a bit.

iOS 9.3 Jailbreak Release Date

Currently, there’s no say on when an iOS 9.3 jailbreak will or could release. Obviously, iOS 9.3 would have to release first, but even the release date for iOS 9.3 is unknown at this point.

iPhone-6 copy

However, it’s likely that iOS 9.3 will release a couple of days before Apple’s rumored March event, or even the day of the event. It’s rumored that Apple will hold an event on March 21 to announce the iPad Air 3, iPhone SE, and some small Apple Watch updates.

If iOS 9.3 releases that day and an iOS 9.3 jailbreak has been discovered, then it’s likely that the jailbreak release will arrive shortly after the iOS 9.3 release.

Of course, that’s being rather hopeful, and it’s entirely possible that we may not see an iOS 9.3 jailbreak right away. After we thought an iOS 9.2 jailbreak would release soon after iOS 9.2 was out, it’s not too hard to be skeptical about new jailbreak releases.

Activator

One of the most popular jailbreak tweaks of all time is Activator, and it's easy to see why. Activator allows you to set up automations as well as shortcuts for all sorts of different actions, like automatically turning on your alarms for the next day and even changing songs using the volume buttons.

This is especially true now that Activator works on iOS 10, so you can combine it with everything that Apple added to iOS 10 and iOS 10.2.

AppDrawer

One of the best features of Android is the app drawer, where all of your installed apps appear when you bring it up. Something like this is awesome, since you don't have to have all of your apps on the home screen, and now the feature is on iOS through Cydia thanks to AppDrawer.

Browser Changer

Do you use a web browser on your iPhone other than Safari? Then it might be nice to actually change iOS's default browser to your preferred one using Browser Changer. This means that any links from other apps will now open in the web browser of your choice and not just default to Safari.

Bytafont 3

iOS 9 added a new San Francisco font that is still in iOS 10. If you're not a huge fan of it, you can use Bytafont 3 to change the font to whatever you want. The possibilities are endless here.

DeleteForever

Not a big fan of the Recently Deleted folder in the Photos app? While there isn't an iOS 10 Cydia tweak to get rid of the folder, you can at least bypass it altogether when deleting a photo.

DeleteForever will allow you to permanently delete photos with one swoop, rather than deleting a photo and then having to delete it again from the Recently Deleted folder.
