iOS 9 Release: 5 Things We Learned in August

Published

on

The iOS 9 release date is confirmed for the fall but Apple has yet to outline a specific date for its arrival. August was a busy month for the rumored iPhone 6s and Apple’s next iOS update and today we want to take a look at what we’ve learned about the iOS 9 release for iPhone 6s and more.

In June, Apple took the stage at WWDC 2015 to announce several brand new products including OS X El Capitan for Mac and iOS 9 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 9 is iOS 8’s successor and it will be coming to the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini, iPad 4, iPad 3, and iPad 2 this fall.

On stage, Apple confirmed a slew of iOS 9 details including the iOS 9 beta, several iOS 9 features, and the iOS 9 release date. The release date will land this fall though we still don’t have any official date from Apple. And we might not for at least a few more days.

As we inch closer to September, iPhone and iPad users are starting to get antsy. iOS 9 is bringing several new and important features. Among them, a hour long battery life boost for the iPhone and performance improvements for older devices like the iPhone 5.

Apple isn’t talking about the iOS 9 release just yet but we learned quite a bit about it in the month of August. Thanks to a series of credible reports and leaks, we have a pretty good read on the iOS 9 release date. And thanks to the iOS 9 beta, we have a pretty good idea about what to expect from its features.

With August coming to an end, we take a look at the most important things we learned about the iOS 9 release this month. Keep these in mind as we push into September.

iOS 9 Launch Date

iOS 9 Launch Date

One of the most important things we learned about the iOS 9 release is the date on which we can expect Apple to show off its features and announce its release date for the iPhone 6, iPhone 5, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPod touch, and others.

Earlier today, Apple confirmed a media event for September 9th. This is the same day that Apple used to launch the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year and it's expected to be the launch date for the rumored iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and Apple TV 4.

While the iOS 9 update might not be the star of the show, there's a good chance that Apple will show it off on stage and confirm its public release date. iOS updates always join new iPhone hardware on stage and there's no reason to expect anything different this year.

Apple will be live streaming the event which means if you're at all interested in iOS 9, you'll want to tune in at 10AM PST on September 9th.
