Win a 32GB iPad 2 By Telling Us How You’d Use Vonage Time to Call

Published

on

You heard me right, GottaBeMobile is giving away a 32GB iPad 2 WiFi to one lucky reader. The prize comes courtesy of Vonage, which is promoting the company’s new affordable international calling app for iOS.

The new Time To Call app works on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, using your data connection to bypass expensive international calling rates from your cell phone carrier.

With Time To Call, you can make up to a 15 minute phone call to international numbers for just $1.99. The $2 per 15 minute block is available for over 100 countries and there are an additional 90+ countries which you can call for $2.99 to $9.99 a minute.

The payment comes from your iTunes account, so you don’t need to be surprised by your phone calls at the end of the month.

Here’s a promo showing off the Vonage Time To Call App:

https://youtu.be/ZnnITF35Y2A

Why Use Time To Call

Vonage Time To CallI downloaded the app and tested it out on the iPad using a pair of headphones with a built-in Mic. I used the app to make a call on WiFi at home, which offered good call quality and ease of use. If you have a 3G device, you can use it to make the call as well.

The Time to Call App is free to download in the iTunes App store, and right now it includes credit for one free 15 minute phone call so you can try it out without spending any cash.

How To Win a 32GB iPad WiFi

Vonage was nice enough to give us a 32GB iPad 2 WiFi, to deliver to one of our readers. The contest is actually for a gift card equivalent, so if you prefer to use it towards another Apple product, like the upcoming iPhone 5, you could do that too.

To Enter: Leave a comment below, telling us how cheap international calling could change the way you keep in touch with work, friends or family.

You must leave a comment by midnight Pacific time on August 24th. At that time we will pick a winner using random.org to generate a number. You may enter once.

Alongside our contest, Vonage is giving away an iPad 2 32GB WiFi model on PuntoGeek.com and Dotpod.com.ar and others.

Details: Be sure you can legally enter a contest in your locale. We will contact the winner after the contest concludes. If the winner does not respond within 48 hours we will choose another winner.

UPDATE: The Winner is JD Northwest. Congrats and thanks to all who entered.

I’ve barely talked to my Nana in the UK while I’ve been away at school because international phone calls are normally just too expensive. Cheap international rates would make this a lot easier.

For us, placing calls while on international trip is not just a necessity but what brings in the bacon. My wife and I are Realtors and must engage current clients and fresh leads that come in via yard sign, website and from those who refer us. Of course when on an international trip, most of those folks don’t even know that we are gone. With this app, it looks like I  don’t have to switch out sim cards or buy calling cards. Constant, effective communication in this business is what keeps clients coming back. This app would cut my rates my more than double and eliminate all the hidden fees associated with typical telecommunication providers. Let’s here it for simple, pay-as-you-need-it phone service!

Well I’m a grad student living far away from my parents who’re in another country. Phone calls are usually pretty expensive and things like Google voice make you jump through too many hoops. Vonage’s Time To Call would help me keep in touch with my folks back home and my girlfriend too without having to worry about breaking the bank. Quite important when you’re a poor grad student trying to make ends meet while having to focus on studying too. Vonage’s solution would help me feel markedly less lonely without the hassle of thinking about the money left in your account or having to carry around a calling card all the while / call a particular number and key in a ton of stuff.

Plus, since I joined twitter I got to know so many people from all around the world (Brazil, France, UK, Canada etc): I am close to many of them but we never get a chance to actually talk. It’d be great, being able to communicate with all of them in a cheap way.

Cheap international calling can greatly help!! Why do we have to be dollars and dollars just to stay in touch with our loved ones? I mean it doesn’t have to be cheap, but it sshould be at a reasonable price that when we want/need to talk to them, we can just go right ahead and dial the phone. So cheap international calling would be great! Thanks for this giveaway.

My mother is 88 years old and lives overseas, in Amman-Jordan to be precise. The cost to travel overseas is prohibitive, so the best alternative is a phone call. I can only afford to call her once every 2 weeks, but with this app from Vonage, I can now afford to speak to Mom twice a week or more. Thank you Vonage, you are the greatest!

Cheap international calling would enable me to stay in touch with friends and family who serve overseas. While Skype is nice, the quality of the call is often lacking, and is dependent upon Internet service in other countries which can often be sparse. Low cost international calling would make contacting them easier.

I have family that is stationed in Japan and Germany.  With cheap international calling, this would enable my family and I to talk more often and longer with those family members.  Right now, we limit our calls and when even our kids want to talk, we tell them to keep the calls short.  With  Vonage being so reasonable in cost, we call all talk more often and not feel rushed.

I am probably no more deserving than anyone else here, but I might as well throw my hat in the ring.  I travel for work near and far.  This means time away from my family, something that sometimes is too much to bear.  I dearly miss my 3 boys and my wife; to be able to talk to them everyday when I am deployed on projects would be such a blessing.  I leave for a 2 month project in Guatemala in a few weeks and being able to hear their voices, learn about their day and to not miss out on so many of the things we take for granted more than once a week would be amazing!

Cheap international calling will allow me to freely talk to my contacts in the same way I would whilst face to face. In the rare instance where I’d make an international call by traditional phone methods on my mobile, I’d feel restricted in what I could talk about and how long I could talk about a subject because I’d know that at the back of my mind, I’m slowly throwing away money, coin by coin. I’d use cheap international calling to contact people and companies more than before, and it would bring the world closer to home with less pressure on worries of finance for me.

My job has morphed into having certain international responsibility, so I am calling into Japan, France, Holland, Germany and Canada.  Although these are primarily work calls, with the exception of staying in touch with my brother in Denmark, the expense of these calls are on me (go figure!). I would use this to cost effectively make these calls from anywhere.  I’ve been a loyal Vonage customer for many years, and this app looks incredible!!  It’s great to see them evolving with technology changes and user needs!

This sounds like a great application and I’m thrilled that it is the beginning of crossover companies we can use even though we are currently tied to a specific phone company. I know this application will be great for keeping in contact with friends in Ireland. I’ll make sure that friends are aware of it.

To put it simply, I married the Philippines.

I know, you might want to correct me and say that I married someone from the Philippines, but if you are anywhere near my situation, you might realize the truth in that statement.  I have gained an appreciation for the culture, the food, the place itself, but most of all, the amazing extended family I’m now privileged to be a part of.

We would use a service like this to keep connected with our family in the Philippines, particularly with my brothers-in-law.

Cheap international calling would change the way I keep in touch with work, friends or family because I would be able to spend more time on a call rather than spending time, making money to make the call. Affordable calling to international places would be amazing for anyone with a family member in college programs that force them to leave the states. This also would change the way I keep in touch with my international friends because I would be able to talk to them more frequently. Cheap international calling would change society by giving people more people to associate with, learning new cultures is something people could also do with cheaper international calling!

It would help me and my mom keep in touch with my cousin who has been fighting for our country in the Middle east since 2002, I’ve only seen him 4 times since 2002.  Also one of my best friends is stationed out in Germany, so i would like to call and see if hes enjoying his Bratwurst!

I typically don’t talk on my iphone very often and mainly use it for data transport.  With the Vonage app, I would investigate bumping down my iphone plan minutes and using the app solely for my voice calls.  That would effectively change my iphone plan to a pay-as-you-go style plan.

Well, my grandfather in Mexico is not doing well (health-wise), so my mom could definitely use this app to place regular calls to check up on him from work (and during “business hours”). Obviously, she can’t place long distance calls from work, but since employees have access to wifi she can piggy back on the wifi internet access to check up on him during the week and during typical business.work hours.

This has the possibility of being a real life saver. My children travel overseas as part of their graduate studies, and on her last trip, my daughter had an emergency and we had two 1 Hour plus calls, which added $500 to our AT&T bill – this would have been a godsend.

I am planning to use TimeToCall in the next Eurobasket in Lituania. I am from Spain and using Vonage’s app will save me tons of euro in roaming charges. Good luck to everyone participating!

Using the Vonage Time to Call app, and the cheaper international rates it offers, would allow me to call my dear friend in Germany. Right now, we can only keep in touch through email & snail mail.
