iPad mini 2 LTE Arrives at Verizon with $100 Off Option

The iPad mini 2 with Retina Display is now available at Verizon Wireless giving prospective buyers another retail option and a way to chop some money off the price as the nation’s largest 4G LTE carrier is offering the iPad mini with Retina Display for $430 to those that are willing to buy it with a new two-year service agreement.

Last month, the iPad mini with Retina Display was introduced on stage in San Francisco and tagged with a November release date. The company opted not to disclose a specific release date. Today, the company quietly started offering the iPad mini with Retina Display for the first time, giving consumers zero warning ahead of its midnight release.

Apple’s new iPad mini 2 has already proven to be a hot commodity, particularly the 4G LTE model which has already seen increased shipping times at the Apple Store. Those who are looking for alternatives, particularly one that offers a discount up front, will be happy to know that Verizon has started taking iPad mini with Retina Display orders.

The carrier, just moments ago, put the iPad mini with Retina Display on sale, offering up the LTE model in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB form. And while the device is the same as the one found at the Apple Store, there are a few key differences. First, Verizon says that it will ship out by November 25th. It offers overnight shipping which means that users can get it by November 26th. This is a little bit faster than Apple’s promised November 26th to December 4th arrival date for iPad mini LTE orders.

Verizon is also offering a $100 discount off the normal $529 price tag for the LTE iPad mini with Retina Display 16GB. Those that sign up with a new contract can get it for $429.99. Those who go month-t0-month will find it with the same $529.99 starting price tag.

The carrier is the first to start officially offering the iPad mini 2 with Retina Display though it won’t be the last. AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile will likely also start offering the brand new iPad mini in the hours, days or weeks ahead. Retailers like Best Buy should also have stock available as we head towards the holiday shopping season.

Apple’s iPad mini with Retina Display is its latest 7.9-inch iPad and it offers a new high-resolution Retina Display, brand new camera, and a 64-bit A7 processor that should help with performance.

I’d expect a higher discount considering the 2 year tie-up? The price of the iPhone, with subsidy, goes from $650 to $199, a savings of $450. While iPad data plans are cheaper (compared to the all-in voice/data/sms phone package, not just data), I’d expect a higher discount, something to the tune of $250 off.
