Apple announced a Smart Cover for the iPad mini, shown at the bottom of this photo of the iPad mini event. The Smart cover protects the front of the iPad Mini and folds back to create a stand for watching videos or typing on the iPad mini. Apple will sell the Smart Cover for the iPad Mini for $39.99 when the iPad mini goes on sale. The iPad mini Smart Cover attaches to the side of the small tablet with magnets and uses a magnet on the front of the tablet to put hte iPad to sleep when closed and turn it on when opened.
