iOS 7 on the iPhone 4s is a mixed experience according to users who made the jump as soon as Apple released the latest software update.

For some users the iOS 7 iPhone 4 experience is great, but for others running iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 is enough to make them consider upgrading to the iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c for a speedier performance.

iPhone 4 iOS 7 Reviews – The Bad

Many iOS 7 on iPhone 4 reviews are from angry users, which may be thanks to the greater likelihood that an angry user is more likely to complain, but they are worth looking at.

The biggest iOS 7 on iPhone 4 complaints are lag and performance, but battery life is also an issue. The IOS 7 on iPhone 4 video below highlights some of the problems with using iOS 7 on the iPhone 4.

It’s worth skipping past the boot time, because most users aren’t booting the iPhone time after time every day. The lag between apps and the home screen and lack of transparency are issues that users should check out before upgrading to iOS 7.

iPhone 4 iOS 7 Reviews – The Good

For all the complaints, there are a good number of iPhone 4 owners running iOS 7 that enjoy the software update and the new features it brings. One thing to keep in mind while reading these iOS 7 on ipHone 4 reviews is that many users qualify the speed, so while they may be happy with the experience, it’s described as “rather smooth” and “not too slow” instead of smooth and fast.

Should iPhone 4 Owners Upgrade to iOS 7?

The biggest question is should you install iOS 7 on your iPhone 4, and that’s not an easy question to answer. There are enough reports of slow performance and lagging that it could outweigh the new iOS 7 features like Control Center.

The easiest way to figure out if the iOS 7 lagging and other performance issues are too much for you to stand is to find a friend or coworker who is running iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 and try it out yourself.

Some iPhone 4 owners will be better off staying on iOS 6 until they can upgrade to the iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c this year, or the rumored iPhone 6 next year.

    thanks for this info.

my wife and I have both gone for cheap deals for iphone 4 and her the 4S, the 4S coming installed with IOS 7already. 7 seems a bit to clever for me, for example automatically flooding the contacts list with ALL of the email adresses from registered accounts with out asking (around 200 unused / spammy contacts). I do like the way it looks though, it has got a happy look to it.

I remember thnat back when I had an iphone 3 I upgraded the software and it went all laggy on me, so I will be sticking with IOS 6 on my iphone 4.

Buuuuuuuu…it sucks! It’s ugly and slow(er)…and above all – it’s ugly…Apple, if u wanted to move from the old design, I can understand, but keep moving cause this is horrible…and please don’t go Microsoft on your users by making sucky decisions

I was having real issues with lag using IOS 7 on iPhone 4. I switched off the iCloud syncing for documents and data and this seemed to make quite a big difference to the overall smoothness. It might still be slightly slower than IOS 6 but not as bad as I was first noticing.

My husband has updated to iOS 7.
The. Icons look like something out of kindergarten for mobile phones…
    Seriously… Ugly … I’ve had 3 iPhones . & 2 iPads .
Definitely going to Samsung next phone & android ….
If my husband had not bought these I would already have samsung , as i had samsung previously and has always been more superior in many ways..
i am no longer going back to apple just because it is convieant …
    Apple is really going. Backwards…

I like how Samsung can’t even create its own software… Miss Apples and Oranges here.

I have the iPhone 5 and just installed the update. My phone is EXTREMELY slow now. I HATE this update!! I read that iPhone 4 users had this same problem, but beware iPhone 5 users – it isn’t much better on the newer version of the phone. Ridiculous.

I call bullshit. Either you don’t know what an iPhone 5 is (and thereby don’t have one) or you’re doing something terribly wrong. I’ve had EVERY beta version of iOS 7 (from Beta 1) on my iPhone 5; EVERY SINGLE VERSION has run smoothly, ESPECIALLY the GM (release) version.

Congratulations, it worked for you. My phone is having problems. Call bullshit on yourself and your need to reply for no reason. Loser.

Have you tried doing a reset of the settings? That supposedly fixes much of the problem.

  7. iOS7 does not work with iPhone 4

    09/25/2013 at 7:35 am

iOS 7 has ruined my iPhone 4. It is now useless and I can’t believe I now hold an Apple product in my hand, when I used to regard their brand so highly. The ridiculous slowness, lag, jerkiness, battery drain, visibility issues due to the new fine fonts, stark white backgrounds, faint virtual keyboard and reduced display screen due to headers and footers that display solid on the 4, render this device painful, frustrating and depressing to use. However, what is more disheartening is that Apple blocks clients from returning to iOS 6 which worked a treat on the older technology that is on the iPhone 4. The client is left with two options – wait in hope that Apple will do the right thing by its customers and deliver a prompt and significant update to fix these issues or allow iPhone 4 users to return to iOS 6, or do what it sounds like many others are doing and move to Samsung.

I have to agree with the discontented comments and I am so disappointed. Was prompted to do the upgrade on my iPhone 4, so naively assumed that Apple was recommending this. Now, I can’t even enter my password or write a simple text without an unacceptable lag. I went into settings and turned all my icloud functions off as well as turning off anything running in the background. Nothing has helped so far. Now I have a perfectly good phone that’s totally dysfunctional. Thanks Apple!

Keyboard lag is supposedly fixed by turning off iCloud. Yes, not a perfect choice (though many of us don’t use IC), but at least it will get your keyboard working fine again without the lag.

Note: I’m on iOS 6 on an iPhone 4 and the keyboard entry has always been herky-jerky–with lags every now and then!

Having upgraded my 4s to ios 7 I now find that it will not connect to my Landrover Discovery 4. It bluetooths the phone OK but it will not play music when connected to the Landrover dock that I had been using faultlessly prior to the upgrade.

to all you who have given it a bad review… i disagree! the user interface is fool proof, it looks so much better and yes it may be slightly slower than the ios 6 but for an iphone 4 keeping up with the iPhone 5 its great! its like saying I’ve bought a Toyota mr2 and got a Ferrari body kit for it. yet it drives like a toyota even though it looks like a Ferrari. News flash.. its a toyota LOL but looks great!

so in other words, if you want your ios7 to be top notch, buy an iphone 5.. if you are stuck on an iphone 4 because you can’t upgrade yet… enjoy it with the new ios7 lol :)

Is there anyway to get rid of that nagging red update on the Settings icon? I have NO intention of upgrading my Iphone 4 to iOS 7 but that red icon is annoying. I’ve read the only way to hide it is if your phone is jailbroken. But I’m just checking to see if there’s any other options.

its apple’s marketing strategy..they want the existing iphone 4 users to move forward with iphone 5 and 5s or 5c :P

The guy in that video is an absolute moron with much of it rigged anyway… oh, and if you’ve got a cold – go home to bed and while you’re there, learn what a CPU is, alongside specs including frequency, RAM, etc – he obviously has no clue.

KEYBOARD LAG – Disconnecting from iCloud seemed to fix the keyboard lag (which was so bad I could barely use the phone – certainly couldn’t text or surf) – THANK YOU – will never accidentally install updates again!
