iPhone 4S owners who want to jailbreak the iPhone 4S are able to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 without the fear of losing the ability to jailbreak the iPhone 4S.

Previously we warned that users should avoid iOS 5.1.1 in case Apple patched any security holes hackers would use to jailbreak the iPhone 4S, but now that Pod2g has made progress on the iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak for iPhone 4S, it is ok to update.

Pod2g confirmed on twitter that it is ok to update the iPhone 4S to iOS 5.1.1 as long as you can wait for the jailbreak.

According to Pod2g, the new untethered iPhone 4S jailbreak will work on iOS 5.1 and iOS 5.1.1.

An Untethered jailbreak means users won’t need to plug into their computer every time users turn the device on. This is the most user-friendly jailbreak.

The new iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak tool will work on most devices including the new iPad. There is no firm release date, but Pod2g says testing is underway and we can expect an iPhone 4S jailbreak for iOS 5.1 and iOS 5.1.1 in a few weeks.

Pod2g is one of the primary figures behind the release of the Absinthe jailbreak tool for iOS 5.0 on the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S.

The team is working on a new user-friendly tool that will allow users to jailbreak the iPhone 4S in a few clicks. It’s not clear if the new tool is an updated version of Absinthe or a standalone tool.
