iPhone 5 and iPad Mini Release Dates Rumored for September

Published

on

The iPhone 5 release date has once again been rumored for September and it appears that the iPad Mini release date could take place during that month as well.

According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, courtesy of MacRumors, the iPhone 5 will indeed launch in September of this year and the launch will be followed by a release of Apple’s iPad Mini, it’s smaller 7.85-inch iPad.

Kuo did not give out a specific date that he expects to see either of the devices, though we heard yesterday that the iPhone 5 might be released on September 21st. This is the second day in a row that we’ve heard that the iPhone 5 will launch in September, so it’s becoming increasingly possible that Apple might have bumped up the release date of the device.

October though remains the front-runner for the release dates of both the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini. Kuo believes that the iPad Mini launch will follow the launch of the iPhone 5 with production increasing during the month of August.

The iPhone 5 release date has again been pegged for September.

In addition, he believes that Apple will be tweaking the third-generation iPad and releasing it with those tweaks later this year. They are expected to address heat issues and costs. It’s unclear if Apple will even announce those changes or if it will silently start infusing the device with the modifications.

Without any sort of announcement or event invitation, the release date of the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini remain completely mysterious, just like the devices themselves.

iPhone 5 Release Date

While September has now been heavily rumored, October remains the favorite. Apple released the iPhone 4S in October and Apple is a company that likes to follow release patterns.

It broke its usual pattern with the iPhone 4S launch in the fall last year so it’s possible that it might do something different again with the release date for the iPhone 5.

The only two specific dates that we’ve heard thus far are one in August, which makes little sense, and September 21st.

iPad Mini Release Date

As for the iPad Mini release date, we’ve heard nothing specific but we’ve always assumed that Apple would release the iPad Mini at some point around the same time as the iPhone 5.

The iPad Mini might launch in September as well.

The reason for that is that the company clearly would announce the device at the same time as the iPhone 5 and Apple doesn’t like to release its devices too long after they are announced.

iPhone 5 Rumors

The iPhone 5 is expected to be a huge upgrade over the previous version of the iPhone, the iPhone 4S.

Our exclusive engineering samples show a taller iPhone 5, which could mean that the device is going to have a larger 4-inch screen and not the usual 3.5-inch display that iPhone owners are accustomed to.

It’s also heavily rumored to include 4G LTE capabilities, NFC support and 1GB of RAM tucked inside of its design as well as a quad-core processor, a thin design, a metal backing instead of a glass one and a high-definition front-facing camera for improved video chat.

iPad Mini Rumors

The iPad Mini remains a little more mysterious. Our exclusive engineering sample photos show that the iPad Mini will be a little bit thinner than the current iPad, but only about two-thirds the size.

The engineering mockup also showed two speakers on either side of the dock connector, where current iPads have only one speaker.

The bottom of the iPad Mini shows the smaller 19-pin dock connector we’ve heard about in earlier rumors for the iPhone 5 and we fully expect the screen to measure in at 7.85 inches.
