Best iPhone 5 Cases

Published

on

iPhone 5 cases are now widely available from some of the top case makers and companies.

Some of our favorite iPhone cases are still on the way, like a LIfeProof iPhone 5 case or a Mophie iPhone 5 battery case, but there is a wide selection of great iPhone 5 cases users can buy now.

These cases are designed specifically for the iPhone 5, older cases won’t fit the taller and thinner iPhone 5 frame. We aren’t listing every iPhone 5 case since that would run into the hundreds. We’re only sharing iPhone 5 cases that we would buy ourselves and that are manufactured by companies we’ve had positive experiences with.

This list of iPhone 5 cases, iPhone 5 screen protectors and iPhone 5 skins will be continually updated as new cases are announced. There are simply too many iPhone 5 cases for our team to buy and try ourselves, so please leave a comment below if you find an iPhone 5 case that belongs on this list and we’ll be sure to check it out.

Personally, I can’t stand the ZAGG Invisible Shield. The screen protectors from Power Support are amazing. I can’t remember the site off the top of my head, but they are static cling protectors so you don’t have to mess with any sprays and they lay perfectly flat.

As for the cases, I love Contour Designs’ showcases and have used them for every one of my iPhones thus far. Unfortunately, they take FOREVER in developing them and getting them to market. I might have to make a switch this time.

Based on my first copy of the Otterbox Defender, I would have to say that case is a definite NO GO. Right out of the box, the belt clip broke off the holster. The design appears to be totally deficient, especially when compared to the iPhone 4 belt clip.

The case itself appears to be every bit like the iPhone 4 case, except it is way more difficult to split the case open. On the iPhone 4 case, there were 3 clips you needed to open to split the case. Each of those you could open with a fingernail. The iPhone 5 case also has 3 (one on each side, one on top), but the top one required a screwdriver to open it, and then you almost need 3 hands to get it open. Using a screwdriver around my iPhone is not something that is making me happy.

I have used Otterbox cases for all my iPhones, but I think I’ll look elsewhere for my iPhone 5.

Personally, I dont like Otterbox phone cases. Had a nasty experience with them once.
I tried WirelessEmporium after that, so far working well.

Nice case but I prefer the Pong Research iPhone case . The World Health Organization has declared that cell phone radiation may be linked to brain cancer. Ten studies connect cell phone radiation to diminished sperm count and sperm damage. Others raise health concerns such as altered brain metabolism, sleep disturbance and behavioral changes in children. That’s why I decided to do something that reduce cell phone radiation levels for protect to my family. In the end though, I found a couple of reviews of Pong Research’s cases, that convinced me to give it a try. This case is built with an antenna in between layers of the back cover, which reduces exposure to radiation while optimizing the mobile reception.

The 3 best cases I have ever owned came from Contour Design, called a Showcase for the iPhone 3 and 4. I just eMailed them about one for a 5 and they answered immediately, saying it is in the works. Don’t know why it takes so long, but each has been worth the wait.

Dual Pro not so hot because the inner liner leaks color into the flash opening. Since my core is yellow this may be a problem with the flash. I have a 4s. Maybe the newest one has corrected that problem. Not taking a chance for my 5s.

Contour Design Showcase is outstanding, IMO! I had one for all my iPhones since they came to the market. They have saved my iPhone countless times. (The OutterBox cases are too bulky, IMO.) The Showcase did fit my iPhone 4S with some modifications using my Dremel for the Silent switch and volume buttons. I still use all my cases as we handed down our iPhones to our kids in lieu of getting them iPod Touch each. I just emailed them last night about a Showcase for the 5S HOWEVER something tells me it’s not going to happen. They haven’t made a new Showcase since the iPhone 4 and if you check the product links now, there are no iPhone cases to find (unless there site is partially broken). The only way I have been able to get the link to the Showcase on their site, was to use Google. I am waiting for a response from Contour Design. I would hate not to have a Showcase protecting my next phone.

I just received an email from them. With this web link. They seem to still be making cases but for whatever reason they’re not making the showcase right now I want to find out why. Any the other information.
