iPhone 5 iOS 9 Release: 5 Important Details

Published

on

In June, Apple confirmed an iPhone 5 iOS 9 update for the fall. And as we’ve pushed deeper into the summer, we’ve learned a whole lot about the update’s features and release. With a launch rumored to be just weeks away, we want to take a look at the most important things to know, right now, about the iPhone 5 iOS 9 release.

The rumors leading into WWDC 2015 were spot on. Apple did, in fact, have an iOS 9 update up its sleeve. At its key note, Apple ran down many of the iOS 9 update’s key features and it also attached a vague fall release date to the operating system. In other words, it was a repeat from last year’s WWDC and iOS 8.

As we’ve pushed away from June and WWDC, we’ve learned a lot more about Apple’s plans for iOS. We’ve seen new iOS 9 features emerge thanks to the iOS 9 beta and we’ve just recently got a read on the iOS 9 release date. And that has many iPhone 5 users excited.

The iPhone 5 iOS 9 update was confirmed in June and it will be the device’s third major update. It’s not clear if Apple has plans for the iPhone 5 beyond iOS 9 though with the iPhone 4s getting Apple’s latest update, there’s a good chance the iPhone 5 will get iOS 10.

With an iPhone 5 iOS 9 release getting closer, we want to take a look at five important details regarding the update’s release. Keep these in mind as we push deeper into the month of August towards the iOS 9 update’s inevitable release for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

In June, shortly after the conclusion of the WWDC keynote, Apple released an iOS 9 beta to iPhone 5 users in the developer beta. A few weeks later, it released the iOS 9 beta to the public. The public iOS 9 beta is the first public beta for a major iOS update.

Thanks to the iPhone 5 iOS 9 beta, we've been able to track the update's performance and features in the build up to the final release. Several iOS 9 beta users have been providing excellent feedback in the weeks since the update's release. We've even seen some users compare the latest beta to iOS 8.4

While the iOS 9 beta 5 (beta 3 for the public) is not the final version of the software, it's probably pretty close, and that's why we think it's worth digging into. You don't want to go into the iOS 9 release blind. You'll want to have some idea about the update's performance and features ahead of time.

With the iOS 9 release drawing closer, now might be a good time to test the iOS 9 update on your iPhone 5. The update is rich with features and it's far more stable than it was a few months ago. Best of all, you can downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 if you decide that it's too buggy for your tastes.

We're not sure if Apple will release another iOS 9 beta for the iPhone 5 but if it does, you should dig in a little bit before the official release.

Are you retarded? This article implies iOS 9 is only for the iPhone 5, when in reality it’s for iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus
