iPhone 5c Arrives at Target for $79

With just hours to go until in-store iPhone 5c sales kick off at local Apple Stores and wireless stores across the country, department retailer Target has added the 16GB iPhone 5c to its online store for just $79.99.

At that price, Target is matching the same price that Walmart said users would be able to pick up Apple’s colorful iPhone for in its locations. While Target users can order the iPhone 5c from Target’s website in all five colors and both storage configurations, it seems the selection in its retail locations will only consist of the 32GB versions of the device for Sprint and Verizon.

That device will cost users $199.99 online. Perspective buyers will have to sign up for a two-year service agreement with a carrier before receiving their devices. While Target is offering versions of the device for AT&T Wireless, Verizon and Sprint, users on T-Mobile will have to pick up their devices from a local T-Mobile retail store or an Apple Store. Target isn’t currently offering that version of the device on its website or, presumably in-store tomorrow.

Whether Target will have the first-party cases Apple announced during its keynote last week is unclear. Its website doesn’t currently list any cases for the iPhone 5c specifically. Target already offers a bevy of headphones, car chargers and cables for the iPhone, iPad and iPod lines, so users looking for basic accessories, excluding cases, should find their needs well met.

iPhone 5s users won’t be left in the cold either. Target’s website also includes pricing and order information for the iPhone 5s in gray, white and gold. Target is taking in store iPhone 5s reservations for the 16GB models, with no guarantees for release date delivery.

News of Target carrying both devices comes on the heels of rumors that Apple could miss demand for the iPhone 5s by as much as 50%. If those rumors are true, buyers who don’t line up early could be left disappointed on release day.
