As we approach the fall, we continue to hear rumors about a massive 12-inch iPad Pro. And as those rumors have firmed up, so have rumors of an iOS 9.1 update.

According to a report from MacRumors, Apple is working on an iOS 9.1 update and it looks like it could arrive in the fall alongside this new iPad model. There are others that believe that this could be the case as well. 

In 2014, Apple confirmed iOS 8.1 and Apple Pay alongside its new iPads in October. So, while not confirmed, these rumors certainly fit the profile.

It's not clear what iOS 9.1 will have on board but x.1 updates are typically larger than standard iOS bug fix updates. And that means that we could see the iPhone 5s get its first big post-iOS update this year rather than in 2016. 

That will be key if you run into problems after the iOS 9 release because major updates like x.1 typically come with a long list of bug fix updates.
