iPhone 5S Release Could Be Getting Closer

Published

on

The iPhone 5S release date looks to be getting closer as a new photo that allegedly shows off not only the iPhone 5S display but the iPhone 5S display on the production line, a sign that Apple’s production of the iPhone 5S has begun ahead of its release.

At WWDC 2013, Apple failed to announce a new iPhone, instead focusing on its new software which arrived in the form of iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks. iOS 7 will be coming to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch later this year and Apple has pegged it with a release sometime this fall meaning it will be out sometime between September and November.

Apple typically releases a new iPhone with its new iOS software and thus far, rumors have suggested that it will be releasing a new iPhone 5S based on the design of the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5S release has been rumored for September, a month that falls inside of the fall, and a new photo seems to back up those claims.

A photo discovered on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, and first noticed by G4Games, shows what appears to be the iPhone 5S display on an assembly line. More specifically, it appears to be the front panel that Apple might be putting on the next-generation iPhone. The fact that it’s on the production line could mean that it’s in production, something that could mean a release is in the cards for the near future.

It’s also entirely possible that this photo is a fake so it should be taken with a grain of salt, just like all Apple rumors should.

The iPhone 5S is expected to arrive sometime this fall with production thought to be taking place 60-90 days ahead of its release. If the device is indeed coming in September, Apple could very well have started production of the new iPhone. Production of the iPhone 5S was previously rumored to be starting in late June or early July.

The device isn’t expected to be a massive overhaul of the iPhone 5, instead, featuring the same design along with some incremental upgrades including a new processor, improved camera, possibly with dual-LED flash, and of course, iOS 7.

The iPhone 5S is thought to also have a fingerprint reader for added security, something that could tie into a unique feature found within iOS 7. Apple previously used a unique iOS feature to promote the iPhone 4S. That feature of course was Siri, the personal assistant that is now found on many of Apple’s mobile devices.
