New iPhone 6 Video Compares Rumors to iPhone 5s

A new video claims to show the iPhone 6 rear shell next to the iPhone 5s and the well known iPhone 6 mockups and it shows what the new iPhones could look like next to the current iPhone and each other.

For months, iPhone 6 rumors have pointed to the arrival of two brand new iPhone models, a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and a much larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Both alleged iPhone 6 models have shown up in photos, and on video, several times in the past giving us a possible glimpse into Apple’s world behind the scenes.

iPhone 6 design rumors have pointed to a redesign that combined metal with a slim form factor, Touch ID home button, a power button that’s shifted to the side, and new elongated volume buttons. The device is said to be thinner than the 7.6mm iPhone 5s and have shown that it could have a shell that looks more like an iPod touch than an iPhone. The shift is expected to make the device more accessible when using one hand.

Today, a new iPhone 6 video depicts what appears to be the rear shell of the iPhone 6 alongside multiple iPhone 6 models and the current iPhone, the iPhone 5s. The video, which comes from Japanese site Macotakara, offers a glimpse at a supposed iPhone 6 shell that comes with cutouts for the camera, an Apple logo in the back, holes for the mute switch, new power button, longer volume keys, and a SIM card tray.

The rear shell is noticeably thinner than the iPhone 5s though it’s impossible to say by how much. iPhone 6 design rumors have pointed to a design that could be as thin at 7mm. The shell is, however, larger than the iPhone 5s. This is due to the increase to the size of the screen. iPhone 6 rumors continue to center on two sizes, 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches, both of which can be seen via the models seen here.

iPhone 6 leaks have shown that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 could be just a little bit larger than the 4-inch iPhone 5s while the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is expected to be much larger than the 4.7-inch model and the current iPhone. The exact dimensions remain out of reach which means that consumers will need to rely on rumors and leaks until Apple takes the stage to debut its new wares.

The iPhone 6 is expected to be a piece of Apple’s 2014 pipeline, a pipeline that’s expected to include a new iWatch, new MacBook Air, two new iPads including an iPad Air 2 and an iPad mini 3, iOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite.

Apple’s new iPhone, in addition to the redesign and larger displays, is thought to have a brand new 64-bit A8 processor for better battery life and efficiency, a new camera with image stabilization capabilities, and perhaps a 128GB model that comes attached to the larger 5.5-inch variant that’s expected to challenge the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 when it arrives on shelves in the fall.

The iPhone 6 release date is expected to land sometime in the fall with September 19th rumored as a possible release date for both the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Apple traditionally hosts an event two weeks before the iPhone’s arrival so it could be that Apple announces the iPhone 6 in the beginning of September.

If true, the iPhone 6 could launch in and around the same time as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, a follow up to the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 and a device that appears to be in Apple’s cross hairs in 2014. The Galaxy Note 4 is rumored for arrival during the first week of September with a release reportedly coming shortly thereafter. Like the iPhone 6, the Galaxy Note 4 is expected to feature a large, high-resolution display aimed at the high-end market.
